Chasing Snow- Chapter 3
Ivry
“Have you been sleeping lately?” My mother asked.
“I got one hour of sleep last night,” I said and the doors busted open.
“Swissy!” The boy’s screamed.
“Boys!” I said and hugged them.
“Where is Payton,” Cory asked.
“She’s with grandma,” I said and they dashed off to find her.
My mom and I talked and hung out for a while then we heard laughing and other random noises from outside. We looked outside and saw the usual, my father and Demetrius sparring. I mentally laughed and shook my head and my mother opened up the window and called for them. We were three floors above the ground so I took the opportunity and jumped out of the window, landing on my feet perfectly.
“Well done,” My father said clapping.
“You sent me to gymnastics for a reason,” I said.
“Yes that was very well done,” A girl said as she came out of the woods. “Don’t worry, I only bring a message for you from Abigail and Zoey. War is raging; better keep the little ones safe. They would love to have her. Our army is growing so be ready for the fight, we will bring no mercy until we get what we want.” When the girl finished talking she turned into mist and disappeared, like magic. I walked over the area where we buried Emily and kneeled lowering my head.
“You okay?” Demetrius asked as he walked up behind me.
“Yes, I’m fine,” I replied. “I’m just glad she didn’t have to see the war that is coming upon us.” I put my hand on the gravestone and said, “This war is personal, and it’s for Emily” I said and my wolf growled.
‘Payton,’ Violet said. ‘Go to her. NOW!’
I did what she said and ran into the castle full speed. I went into the great hall and saw that a race was happening, between Payton and a guard. Oh okay that’s cool, wait are they racing on feet? Payton shifted and so did the guard. ‘Please pretend to be slow.’ I thought. ‘Let her win.’
“Ready. Set. Go!” Someone shouted and Payton dashed off with the guard trailing behind her. She ran faster than I thought she could and made it to the other guard down the hall.
Payton ran up to Demetrius and I shifted back and said, “Mommy, Daddy. I did it! I can control my wolf. Stella actually listened to me! And did you see that I won! That was so much fun!” she said then yawned.
“I think it is someone’s nap time,” Demetrius said, lifting her up.
Demetrius and I walked out of the castle, saying our goodbyes. We strapped Payton in and Demetrius got into the driver’s seat.
“You both are going to bed when we get home. You both can sleep in our room together if that will make you feel better” He said and I nodded.
We made it home quickly considering we almost never obeyed any speed limits on these roads. I went to get Payton out of the car and saw that she was already asleep, her dark hair covering her face. I picked her up and walked in our house. Demetrius kissed my forehead before I walked up the stairs then went back outside to talk with the guards that patrolled the lands around our house. I was happy that our pack moved to occupy these woods. I went into our room and lay down with Payton. She held on to my shirt with her tiny fist and it made me smile. It wasn’t long before I fell asleep too.
