Chasing Snow - Chapter 9
Ivry
"Ivry, darling, wake up," I hear someone say.
"What?" I groan as I roll over.
"I need you to wake up. We need you to take over for Demetrius while he is... um... away," I hear my grandmother say.
"Okay...Wait. Did you just saw while Demetrius is away?" I demanded as I shot out of bed.
"While you and Payton were in the house earlier, I told Demetrius that I needed to ask the three largest and strongest vampire clans to join us. But don't worry, Lucas is with him."
I was so angry that I saw red. My hands curled into fists and I wanted to kill something. "I can't believe he just left," I screamed as I got out of bed, stormed across the room and threw a chair across the room, breaking it into pieces. After an hour and half after breaking things in a blind fury, Payton came running into the room. I smiled at her and dropped the remains of the table I just broke and looked around the room to see the ruins of what was once a beautiful room.
"Mommy, calm down," She said.
"I'm fine baby girl, what's up?" I asked her.
"Can we play hide and go seek with Adam and Justin," She begged with her puppy dog eyes.
"Sure, come on," I said and we all walked outside as Payton laughed and giggled the whole way.
"Adam counts, everyone hides," Payton squealed and ran off to a hiding spot.
We all went into our hiding places and Justin was found first. Despite my anger I giggled and was found shortly after Justin. Thirty minutes went by and no one has found Payton. Thirty minutes turned into an hour, an hour turned into two and I sent out a search party for her blaming myself for not keeping an eye on her. It had gotten dark and no one had seen any sign of her. I began to panic and I turned into my wolf and ran through the forest searching for her sent. Justin and Adam followed me and still we found nothing.
'Wait,' Violet said when we passed a broken branch. 'I found a trail!'
Without hesitation I let Violet take control and we ran off through the woods leaving the other two behind. The trail ended in a meadow that had a small creek running through it and a single willow tree. I shifted out of my wolf form and walked around the meadow.
I walked up to the tree and saw a note stuck to it. I took it off and I read it aloud as Adam and Justin walk up behind me.
Dear Ivry,
You really need to work on your parenting skills there, don't you? Letting your daughter run off into the woods was not a smart move when there is a war breaking out. Though don't you worry, Payton will be taken good care of. Abigail and I will be sure she eats, takes nap and wears her sunscreen. I mean it is pretty damn hot where she is going. Though there is a nice little house for her to be in near the King's palace. All that is left is to get Demetrius and my family will be complete. But anyways good luck with life up there, Ivry darling.

My body shook in fear of what they were doing to my baby. I saw red and I wanted to kill someone. They had taken my baby.
Tears ran down my face and Justin but his hand on his shoulder and asked, "Are you okay, Ivry?"
I grabbed his face and threw him at the tree causing it to snap and fall over. Adam rushed over to his brother and I fell to the ground on my knees in tears, collapsed over the letter. I couldn't believe I had let them take my baby. Zoey had her hands on Payton and I have no idea how to get her back or what they are going to do. I needed Demetrius. I cried for Demetrius. The boys stayed away from me, but I felt their watchful gaze from a distance.
After what felt like hours of crying Adam finally walked up to me and said, "We need to head back. Maybe Elder Annabeth can help us."
I stood as I dried my tears knowing what he said was true. If I had any chance of getting Payton back my grandmother would know. I began my walk back and the boys walked on either side of me. My sadness slowly turned to a burning rage and I decided that no matter what, I would be the one to kill Zoey. I wanted to drain her blood myself. She killed my best friend and took my daughter. That bitch doesn't know what's coming to her.
