Chasing Snow- Chapter 15
Ivry
Demetrius and I went to our hotel room and the first thing Demetrius did was pick me up over his shoulder and carry me to the bed then rested me on the layers of their white bed spread on the soft mattress. When he finally fell asleep, I slipped out of his arms and walked out of the room.
"Why am I going with you again, mutt?" Blade said as she walked up behind me. I pushed her up against the wall, my forearm on her throat lifting her off the floor. She gasped for air and grabbed at my arm and I finally let her go and said, "You’re good with knives. I might need that kind of help. Also call me a mutt one more time and I’ll rip your goddamned throat out.” She didn't say another word as we walked outside and met Lily who handed me a gun with a holster. "For protection," she said as she shifted the weight of the case holding her sniper rifle. I nodded in understanding.
"Let get this show on the road," I said after I put the gun on my waist.
"We should go through the entrance south of here it's the closet one, though not necessarily the safest," she said and I nodded again. I didn’t care about the risk, I was going to get my baby girl back. We ran off with Lily in the lead into the surrounding woods. We passed by much of the same scenery until we stopped in a clearing. It was beautiful. It had blue and white flowers scattered around beds of moss. Then the scent of Abigail hit me.
"Stay quiet," I whispered harshly. "Don't move." I took my gun out the holster and put my finger on the trigger. Then I saw her. She was sitting in the middle of the flowers staring up at the moon. Had it been anyone else I would have walked up to them and asked them what was wrong. But since it was her I aimed for the middle of her back, and fired. I saw it go right through her chest, I saw dark red blood poor out of her staining the white flowers around her. I felt nothing but happiness as her corpse lay bleeding in the moonlight. I walked up to her body and shot two more bullets through her head. I wanted to make sure that she was dead. ‘One bitch down, another to go.’
"We are near the south entrance. We have to hurry," Lilly said as she walked up to me and put a hand on my shoulder. We ran about another ten miles passing trees and beautiful flowers until we stopped at the rock wall of a cliff. "We are here."
"There is nothing-" Blade started to say but by Lily chanting words in some ancient language. The rock wall glowed red and cracked open revealing a wall of fire. “You are bloody joking right?” Blade questioned as she stared at Lily.
"The fire won’t hurt you. Just step through and think of the word “underworld” and nothing else." Lily said as if it were no big deal. “What would happen if we thought of something else while in the fire?” Blade asked. Lily looked up at us and smiled obviously not wanting to say. “Just think of the word “underworld”, okay?”
I cleared my mind and thought of only the word underworld and Lily took our hands and we stepped into the fire. It felt like I was falling for a split second then I felt my feet hit the ground. It was sadly how I imaged it, burning sea of fire and caged souls hanging in cages from chains that went up indefinitely. It was what everyone described as hell, a little cliché but at least it seemed familiar enough.
We were behind a huge building that looked like a castle that has been through hell, oh wait. It's in hell. We sneaked through into the castle through the back and into the halls without a problem.
"Can you smell, Payton?" Lilly asked. “Vampires may have a good sense of smell, but not as good as a werewolf’s.”
"I smell her, let me take over," Violet whined to me and I let her have control. "Down here," Violet said to the others and bolted down the stairs without waiting for them.
