Chasing Snow – Chapter 18

Demetrius

I could barely remember what I felt the next few days except for worry and fear. When we went to the vote it was a practically unanimous vote to leave and help us. The next day was spent packing up their supplies and making sure their town was safeguarded by those who chose to stay behind. Lucas and I left early though so we could make it back to the castle in time to get the other clans organized and such. Lucas offered to drive and I let him. I couldn’t really do anything now. I was in a daze and it didn’t help that I had the same dream again, but without the thrashing. I decided that I would tell Lucas of them on the way back, and then tell Ann. Thinking of home made me think of the rest of the guards and the thrashing I would give the twins when I saw them for letting Ivry run off.

Lucas was nodding his head to some song that was on a local radio station and I said, “Lucas. I had a dream.”

“Well we all have dreams, Dad,” he said without taking his eyes off the road. He has really taken to calling me dad lately. I was still getting used to it. “I haven’t had a dream in a very long time, Lucas. This one was… lifelike. It was almost like a vision.”

“Well there are legends of dreams being visions sent to you from the gods,” Lucas said as the song “Highway to Hell” cut on. I quickly changed the station and classical music began to play throughout the car. "These dreams, I think they are telling me what is going to happen.”

“Why don’t you tell them to me,” Lucas said. I began to tell him every detail of the dream. The scale and the lady and how she turned into a demon with a snake. Then of the battle and how I had been stabbed and had been transformed. Then of where I saw Ivry, Payton, Blade, and Lily hanging in chains. When I finished even he looked shaken up. “We should talk to Elder Annabeth. She will probably have something to say of this.” I nodded in agreement and Lucas drove a little faster from there on.

We arrived at the castle early the next morning and had a hard time driving through the encampments that had been set up for the clans. There were few people out now but I knew that soon they would be running about like bees. Lucas parked the car and we ran into the castle looking for Ann. A servant said that she was in her study speaking with a very important guest and was not to be disturbed. I didn’t give a rat’s ass who it was, I needed to speak with her. I opened the door and I saw Ann talking with this lady that towered over me. She had pure white silk hair and gray eyes like the moon. Her skin was smooth and flawless and as pale as snow. I froze in my tracks as she stared at me and said, “Who so boldly interrupts out conversation?” I couldn’t speak and I couldn’t stop staring at her, I was drawn to her. “Can this imbecile even speak? I can see he is not of one of my creations. He is drenched with darkness so foul I can barely stand it.” She said as she turned back to Ann.

“This, dear Aria, is my grandson-in-law Demetrius. He is the one I have told you about.” Ann said as she walked up to me and hugged me. “We need to talk,” I said to Ann.

“Well go ahead,” Aria said. “When you are done I want to ask you some questions.” She walked over to a chair and sat down. “Who is this woman,” I asked Ann agitated.

“I am not a mere woman!” Aria thundered. “I am the very being that blessed this world with my creation of werewolves and I control the moon phases and the very tides. I watch over the earth as my light guides you through the darkness. I am the Moon goddess Aria.”

“You have got to be joking me,” I laughed. The woman stared me down and I heard her voice echo in my head. “You are filled with a darkness that is going to destroy you very soon if you aren’t careful.”
