Bad Boy with Culture
!~* Kayla's POV !~*
Since neither of my parents were answering their phones, and I couldn't stay at my home due to damage, I dialed Erica, and we decided to make a full girls day out of it. As I sat on her bed with her rambling about a certain guy she was speaking with, I contemplated telling her about the kisses Preston and I shared. When he kissed me, it was as if everything I had been waiting to feel since freshman year came out, and I could feel the things he was, too. It was weird to be lip-locked with a neighbor and former foe, but once I stopped thinking of him as Asshole Preston and as Friend Preston, it became a lot easier. It just flowed, and it was beyond what I had ever imagined. However, I wasn't proud of telling him he could be my friend, especially after sharing a kiss. I didn't want him to get to know me, or like me, no. I wanted him to be a distant neighbor who doubled as a foe. I was comfortable with hating Preston Knight, but in a few hours, he had flipped the whole situation on its ear.
"What's with you?" Erica raised her eyebrow as she joined me at the edge of her bed.
"I just... I need to tell you something."
"Sure. What's up?" she shrugged.
"Okay, I told you how my windows broke and everything, but I may have left something out," I winced.
"What?"
"Uhm, one piece of glass hit me in my head, and..." I continued telling Erica every detail from the truth and dare to our stare just before the kiss, and I stopped babbling, finally looking up from my hands which I was wringing to her eyes.
"Y-you! No, no, Kayla!"
"I did," I blushed, covering my face with my hands, which didn't last long, considering she snatched them away.
"You kissed him?! What- what does that mean?!"
"Nothing. We decided we are going to be friends."
"Wow... I leave you for three hours, and you have a potential love interest and a friend."
"Not a potential love interest, a friend, that's all."
"Bullshit," she mumbled as I gasped.
"Erica!"
"What?! It's bullshit! Both of you are full of bull—"
"Please," I groaned with a role of my eyes. "How long do you think it'll... you know."
"Being friends with Preston Knight?"
"Yeah... I mean, will he try something or..." I trailed, taking a strand of my hair between my fingers, and pushing it back as I thought about the possible outcomes.
"It's Preston. Besides, you two have already kissed, so it's not like you both don't know there are mutual feelings. I can't believe this!"
"Well, you said that—"
"Do not blame me. Look," she paused, turning towards me. "I'm proud of you, I really am. But, imagine being friends with this guy. You two spend this great time together, you get to the end of the day, and then there's this tension between you two, and you can't kiss him because you are only his friend."
