Chasity
I sat in front of the vanity mirror, putting the finishing touches on my makeup. Ma had sent me a personal hair and makeup artist, but I wanted to handle my own makeup. “So, Miss Chasity, how do you want your hair for today? Curls? Or bone straight?” Francesca, the hair and makeup artist asked me as I finished up completely. She took out both her curlers and flat irons, along with a bunch of hair sprays and gels.
Staring at the mirror, I looked at my hair in its current state. I had previously had it done a couple of days prior, but after the ripping and running I’ve done in the past few days, I had thrown my hair up into a ponytail and left it at that. “I was thinking you could style it into another ponytail, but curl it at the end? It’s a little too hot outside to be wearing it down.” I told her.
She nodded. “Yeah, I feel you on that one. It’s supposed to get up to 94 today.” I picked up my phone from the dresser and checked all the messages that had it vibrating off the hook. There were six messages—2 from Ma, 1 from Zeke, and 1 from Christina. I opened up the two from Ma and read them.
Ma: 11:47PM
Since you skipped out on Pops dinner last night, he’s taking us out this weekend to this fancy restaurant to celebrate the engagement! Make sure you remember, okay? -.-
Ma: 6:16AM
This is the address you’re meeting Tyler and the camera crew at: 1653 Hopkins Rd. The interview will be at the Marriott Hotel, it’s in the ballroom, so please, be there on TIME Chasity.
Rolling my eyes, I sat my phone back down, deciding that I would read the rest later. After letting Francesca do my hair, I got dressed in a pair of cheetah print denim shorts and a solid black crop top with a few gold accessories. I slipped on some black and gold sandals and left the dressing room and entered the limo that was waiting outside for me. Francesca's hair and makeup studio was a couple of blocks away from the hotel, so it took us no time in getting there.
As we were pulling up in front of the entrance, there were lots of screaming girls with handmade posters with my name written in glitter. The hotel’s security were trying to hold them all back as Pit, my personal bodyguard, opened the door for me and walked me inside the hotel. As much as I wanted to stop and sign a few posters, I had to get this interview done.
Trying to move through the hotel’s main lobby was just as hectic as trying to get in. There were people moving in every direction—in front of me, behind me, beside me and it was a just a big mess. I hated getting caught up in large crowds, so I made sure Pit was right behind me and dashed towards the stairs. We were originally going to use the elevator, but to avoid even more confusion, we just took the stairs.
We made it down to the ballroom just in time. The camera crew was setting up the cameras, fixing the lighting and stuff. I walked over to Tyler who was seated in the director’s chair and beside him was Eliza, the co-director of the documentary.
“Morning guys.” I greeted, walking up to them. I placed a hand on both of their shoulders, startling them.
“Morning Miss Chas, we weren’t expecting you for about another thirty minutes, but now that you’re here, I guess we can get this interview on and poppin’ as you kids of this generation would put it!” Eliza joked, grinning from ear to ear.
I let out a small chuckle and asked her, “What generation? We don’t use those words anymore, sorry Eliza.”
She frowned, placing a finger on her chin. “Well if that’s the case, then why did I hear my son use it the other day?”
