Chasity
1573 Roland Drive, Apt. 36.
Slowly balling my hands up in a fist motion, I knocked on the front window and stepped back to wait on a response. It was going on ten o'clock and the sky was a dark blue with the exception of a few stars that were spotted here and there. A few minutes into me waiting, the front porch light flicked on and the door opened, no longer leaving me in the dark.
His eyes immediately met mines and I swear they lit up brighter than a thousand christmas trees. "You came." He sounded nothing more than surprised, which only confused me.
"What?" I started as he stepped aside, welcoming me in. "You didn't think you I was gonna come?" I turned around and watched him shut the door close.
He shook his head and shrugged before leading me to the couch. I couldn't help but to notice pieces of large glass covering the kitchen floor as we sat down. "Yes and no. I had a feeling you would come but I wasn't too too sure, if that makes any sense." I nodded, understanding exactly what he was saying.
"So, what'd you have to talk to me about?"
"Kylie and I broke up. I just need somebody to talk to, you're the first that came to mind, unsurprisingly."
The room fell extremely quiet in a matter of seconds. My face fell and telling by the pile of broken glass, I could tell that the breakup didn't go so well.
"Sorry to hear that...how are you taking it? It seemed like you loved her a lot."
He shrugged, leaning back. "I did love her, but I had actually fallen out of love with her this past year. Things really started to get bad once she found out our history together, she started to go ape shit. The trust was clearly nonexistent and my interest in her started to disappear. I started to realize though that the only reason I ever even gave this relationship a chance was because she reminded me so much of this girl I dated awhile back."
Immediately frowning, I wondered on who he could've been taking about. Knowing Tristan every since middle school, I was pretty much aware of all the females that he was romantically involved with and seeing as if it wasn't too many of them, I knew of most of all of them. But, if he was so happening to be talking about me, then there was nothing that either of us possessed–both physically and personality wise–that could've honestly remind him from either of us.
"Damn Chasity, I'm talking about you." He suddenly laughed, shaking his head. "I see you over there wrecking your brain. The only reason I gave Kylie a chance was because of you. She reminded me of you in every possible way, I guess." He shrugged and he looked down at the floor.
I kicked my flip flops off before sitting knees first on the couch, trying to hide the smile that was quickly forming. "Oh..." was really all I could say. I mean, what else could I say?
"I really do believe I'm the reason behind you guys' breakup. I should've never showed up unexpected that day. If I would've never did that, Kylie wouldn't have suspected something was going on between us."
"Trust me, this wasn't the first time she suspected another female was into me and vice versa. I got tired of her accusing me of doing shit when clearly I was faithful as hell to her. Her accusations would drive you to go out and cheat. Believe me when I say that it's not your fault. Stop blaming yourself."
I nodded and tried to drill that in my head, but a part of me still felt otherwise.
"You remember the first time I brought you home to meet my peoples? You were so damn nervous man." He chuckled.
