Zeke
“He’s on your mind, isn’t he?”
Chasity broke her gaze away from the window and looked at me with tired eyes, nodding as a response. She’s been zoning in and out of her own little world for the past ten minutes, the only person weighing heavily on her mind being Tristan. After telling me what happened at the meet and greet, she’s literally sat here, mentally beating herself up about doing Tristan wrong when they were together. Lord knows that Tristan meant a lot to Chasity and though she couldn’t take back what she did, I was a thousand percent positive that she felt horrible about it.
“I don’t know what to do Zeke...” Chasity softly spoke, as her eyes started to glisten. She took her index finger and swiped under her eye, wiping away whatever tears were there. “Tristan was the best boyfriend I could’ve ever asked for and even though he wasn’t technically the first boy I said ‘I love you’ to, he was my first true love. He treated me like the queen I was, he was there for me through the good and bad times and whenever I needed him, he would always be right there.” She blew out a shaky breath, balling up her fist tightly before groaning out of frustration.
“He made sure that I was happy and whenever I wasn’t, he would go to extreme measures to make sure I didn’t go to bed without a smile on my face. What did I do to repay him? I cheated on him like a fucking dumbass, that’s what.”
I finished the last of my orange soda before getting up and joining Chasity on her side of the booth. Tears started racing down her cheeks, one after another and that was a sight I couldn’t stand to see. Seeing her cry made me want to cry because this girl was like a sister to me, despite of how flirty we could get at times. There was nothing in the world I hated most than seeing one of my girls—my mother and Chasity upset to the point where they’d start to cry.
Pulling Chasity closer to me, I laid my head on top of hers and sighed. “First off, stop crying, you look horrible as hell with that smudged upmakeup.” Sniffling, she wiped her face with the back of her hand and sighed. “Second off, go and talk to him. Tell him how you feel, tell him everything Chasity and I mean everything, the reason why you were cheating on him.”
“I can’t do that Zeke...” She trailed off, shaking her head.
I sucked my teeth, becoming irritated. “And why not? You sitting here crying, obviously feeling guilty, why can’t you go and come clean to him? The love you have for him is still there; even a blind man can see that. Stop acting so damn difficult and get the shit over with, who knows what might happen?”
She groaned and closed her eyes, bringing the palm of her hand to her forehead. “You just don’t understand Zeke; I can’t go and talk to him. He freaking hates me, I just know he does, hell I don’t blame him. I’m not even sure why he came to the meet and greet.” Grabbing a few napkins out of the metal napkin dispenser, she wiped off the rest of her ruined makeup and pulled out her makeup bag.
“Chasity, don’t put no more makeup on please?” I asked nicely of her, snatching the bag from her. “You don’t need any of it. I don’t know why you spend hundreds of dollars on this mess anyway.” I zipped open the bag and started rummaging through it, pulling out a tube of lip balm called Baby Lips.
“You won’t mind if I use some of this will you?” I asked her, taking the top off and smelling it. “My lips are a little dry.”
She giggled and shrugged her shoulders, bringing my attention to the label on it. “Not unless you want your lips to smell like Peach Kiss, if so, then go right ahead playboy, I don’t mind.”
I shook my head, declining. “Nah, I’m good.” I handed her the top back before looking behind me at the front counter of the coffee and pastry shop we were in. For the entire time we’ve been here, I felt somebody staring at me. I tried to ignore it and shake the feeling off the first few times, but I just couldn’t do it any longer. My eyes landed on this average heighted girl, standing with her back facing the cupcake oven.
