Hell is a teenage girl.

..........................................

Cassie stumbled back to her dorm, her hair still messy, tear stains down her cheeks. She closed the door behind her and collapsed onto the floor.

Penny opened her eyes.

"Wow. Never thought you'd come back." Penny said.

"Shut up!" Cassie snapped, her tone harsh. Penny was a little taken aback. She examined Cassie up and down. Messy hair. Bruises on the neck, unbuttoned collar.

Penny smiled. "Got into some trouble with a boy, did we?"

"I said. shut. up." Cassie said, her tone calm and quiet this time. She stared straight ahead, her eyes blank and void. Her cheeks now stung from the salty tears.

Penny laughed. "What's gotten into you, little Cassie? Hurt?"

"None of your business." Cassie replied, still sitting on the floor, her eyes fixed on the blank white wall before her.

"I see." Penny said. She looked at Cassie again. Something felt very different about her. Something colder, something heavier than before.

Abigail followed Avery to the Slytherin common room, where Tom Riddle sat, waiting for her.

Tom gestured for Avery to leave the room so they could be alone. Abigail's heart pounded in her chest. She had not talked to him since...well since the night he took her virginity.

He did not look well. He looked so ghastly pale.

She fidgeted with the hem of her sleeves before she sat down. He beckoned her to come closer, a smirk on his lips. She blushed, coming closer to him. He grabbed small frame and situated her atop his lap, pressing his lips onto her neck .

"Tom." She whispered, held in his strong arms again.

He kissed her lips again, before turning her face around to face him.

"Stop distracting me. We have serious business to talk about tonight."

"What kind of business?" She asked, her hand running through his smooth black hair.

He rolled up his sleeve fore her to see. She gasped. It was a tattoo. The tattoo was still fresh, a Snake threaded through a skull. His skin around the tattoo was red and swollen. There was a fresh cut above the tattoo with the letter "M" etched in blood.

"What's this-"

"You don't need to know the details, Abi." He said, cupping her face in his hands.

"Tom.." She said, tears flooding to her eyes to see him in too much pain. She stroker his cold cheek, feeling his skin.

"I don't have much time, Abi. He's going to kill me."

"No! no...he can't. I won't let him..." She sobbed. He looked into her eyes, and wiped a tear from her cheeks.

"Stupid. Even I can't stop Marvolo Delcarioux. What can you do?"

"Anything." She whispered. She would do anything, anything to protect him.

He smiled. "What would I do without you, Abi?" He said, running a finger from her temple to the base of her neck. She shivered from this touch.

"There is something you can do for me." He said.

"I'll do it." She said, without hesitation. He was in so much pain, and this brought her even more pain.
