She felt the contractions again and clutched her stomach in pain.
The nurse immediately rushed to her side.
"Miss Abigail, I'm going to call Dr. Moore. You're going into labor."
The pain only intensified, as the doctor arrives, she was already confined to the bed in extreme bouts of pain.
The doctor signaled for his assistant to call Gabriel immediately.
When he did arrive, he could only stand outside the door because he did not want to go inside.
He could hear her screams, but he did not want to step inside. He leaned against the wall for support as he heard yet another shrill scream from the inside.
One of the doctors came out of the room, a deep frown on his face.
"What is it?" Gabriel asked anxiously.
The doctor shook his head. "She's very weak right now...the baby is in the wrong position. We've tried all the spells we could, and it's not working."
"What can you do? Bring your best!"Gabriel screamed.
"Mr. Delaciroux, we are the very best in the country...she's had a difficult pregnancy...it's all up to fate now..."
Without a second thought, he barged into the room. She was on the bed, her face pale as the white sheets, her hair matted with sweat.
He grabs her hand.
"You can do this, Abi. I'm here. You can do this." He says, gripping tightly onto her hand.
"I-I Gabe....I can't push anymore...it's so painful..." She whispered, her voice hoarse from the screaming.
"You have to! In a few minutes...she'll be here. You'll get to hold her in your arms, Abi. You can do it...you're one of the strongest people I know. I believe in you."
I believe in you
That was what he said before their first quidditch match. That was what he said after every practice, before every game...those four simple words made her believe in herself when few others did, all those years ago.
She held on tight to his hand.
Screams, followed by the crackling of a baby's first cry.
"look at her...isn't she so beautiful?" Gabriel asked, holding his hated half-brother's child in his arms. The baby resembled her father every bit, from the pitch-black hair to the dark eyes...
Abigail couldn't see her, but she could hold her...
The baby weighed barely anything. But to Abigail, this baby was the world now...those little hands, those plump cheeks, those soft little feet...
"I'm going to name her Anna..." She said softly. Anna, after a debt she could never repay... "Gabe? Thank you. Thank you. We wouldn't be here without you."
Someone else was already in the hallway, a stranger in a dark cloak....
Tom Riddle rushed into the room, and as she heard his footsteps, she could sense it. It was him...
He looked at her, and he felt a sense of rage. Who hurt her like so? Who dared scar his most beautiful Abigail?
He couldn't protect her, and for that, he hated himself even more.
But as soon as he saw his daughter, everything changed.
"Tom Riddle?" She asked with tears in her voice.
