Shifters

Chapter 7

Jamie POV

Soaring through the clouds I feel free. nothing bothering me, nothing to hide. just fly. I have been flying for who knows how long. I fly in the clouds so I can't be seen. I'm not tired. Soon the clouds thin and I'm left in the open. I look down and all I see are fields of wheat and paddocks full of animals. I see a wedge tail eagle flying near me. I swoop down to its level. It looks at me and calls out, and somehow I can understand. It was saying hello.

"Hey." I said back. "Nice wings by the way."

"Thanks!" it says happily. "So I'm guessing you are the kite shifter I've heard about?"

"Yes and how did you know?"

It laughed. "I met Lila once, nice girl. she was asking me if she saw any humans who deserved her gift. we are quite close friends. oh and I'm Blake by the way."

"Cool, and I'm Jamie." This isn't weird at all. I'm just having a talk with a boy wedge tail eagle whilst flying above my fathers paddocks.

"Wait, how do I understand you?" I asked.

"This is why." he said and flew into a nearby cloud.

"Blake, what are you doing?" I went in after him. when I went in I found a hollow area in the middle. And I saw a boy who looked about my age, 17, sitting, on a cloud.

"Blake?" I asked moving forward. he looked at me, he had a flop of black and brown hair and piercing emerald eyes.

"Yep." he said popping the 'p'.

"You.... wha.....umm." I face palmed myself. He laughed.

"Don't hit your self too hard. you might lose the little brain sells you have."

I glared at him and went and sat down next to him.

"So...." I said awkwardly.

"Yes I am a eagle shifter." he answered my unspoken question. So now I know a wolf and an eagle shifter.

"Cool."

"Um.... so, what now?" he asked awkwardly.

"I want you to meet some one." I said getting up. when he stood up I noticed he was a bit taller than me. He got just wings and we flew back to the paddock.

"Wait here." I told him and pointed to a nearby cloud. He went and sat down. I flew down to my bike and hopped on after I shifted back. I went a little over the speed limit and drove to Kaydon's house. I knocked on the door and he answered.

"Come with me." I said and walked back to my bike. he got on behind me. I rode back to the paddock and told him to stay with my bike.

"Blake! shift!" I yelled and Blake came down off the cloud in eagle form. I held out my arm and he landed there.

"Um so, who is this?" kaydon asked.

"Blake." I answered shortly.

"So you brought me here to show me a bird?"

"Nope." I put Blake down and he shifted back. kaydon just stared, his mouth hanging open.

"Kaydon?" I said waving my hand in front of his face. he closed his mouth and stood up taller.

"So.. hi, Kaydon." he said putting out his hand. Blake shook it.

"Blake." he replied.

"So Blake," I said, "next time if you are in that form land straight on the ground because you are heavy!" he faked a hurt expression. Kaydon just laughed. I couldn't help but laugh too, so soon we were all on the ground laughing our heads off. Then a while later I had an idea, maybe since Blake is one of the strongest birds of prey I wonder if he can carry kaydon so he can come flying with us.
