You stared down at your phone not knowing what you should do. Of course, part of you wanted to message him, to talk with him as if nothing was wrong and nothing had happened between him and "Hayoung". But the other part—the guilty part—knew how wrong it was of you to keep playing him like this. How selfish it was to be so dishonest, to continually confuse him. It made your heart ache to know that you could possibly be hurting him with your carelessness.
Despite all of your worries and fears, the part of you that wanted to talk to him, that needed to talk to him, easily took you over. Besides, you knew you'd upset him if you didn't message him back. No matter what you did, you were in the wrong.
If only you had the courage to clear the confusion, to make things right.
The only thing you were strong enough to do was perpetuate the lie.

You stared down at the list of questions in your notebook, taking note of how you had asked him questions eight and nine earlier that night. The next two were a nice breather in the midst of the questions, more lighthearted and presumably easier to answer. You still had a tough time typing the messages, knowing well enough that you didn't deserve to be talking to him, to be asking anything of him, to be expecting him to give you any part of himself. You couldn't even give him your real name... Why should you have him continue to open himself up to you?
Were you really that selfish?
