The water was cold against my bruising skin. It felt like pins and needles all over me. But I just let myself go, hoping the pain would be over soon.

The last thing I remembered before waking up was opening my eyes once I was dumped at the side of the bay. I coughed out, water leaving my lungs. Looking up I saw a mop of wet hair hanging over the soldier's face. I wanted to thank him for not killing me, but then the world around me went dark once more.

The minute I woke up I was surprised by the fact that I could breathe. I looked beside me to see Steve in a chair, reading a book.

"How on earth did you wake up before me?" I muttered as I shuffled around, trying to get comfortable.

"It's good to see you're finally awake." He said, setting the book down on the floor beside him. He moved the chair against the floor, pulling it up to my bed.

"Finally?" I asked, furrowing my brow in confusion.
"You were in a coma." He explained. "The blow to your back knocked you out for a couple of days. In the meantime, they had to ship you out to Stark tower." Steve explained to me.

"Wait why? Did the hospital need a room that bad?" I let out a dry laugh.

"Cali, you needed spinal surgery." He finally told me. "You broke disks in your spine and Stark had the technology to get metal ones that fit in place. You have a brace you need to wear for the first little while until your body gets used to it."

"How's Sam, is he okay?" I asked, changing the subject.

"He's doing good." Steve nodded. "He's back at his old job. But he promised a visit once you are back on your feet."

"And Bucky? Any sign of him?" Steve let out a sigh with a small head shake. "Sam and I are trying to locate him. But no luck yet."

"I want in," I spoke firmly.

"What?"

"I want in on finding Barnes." I clarified. "He saved my life that day. He could have left me in the helicarrier to go down with it. He got me out of there. I want to thank him for that."

"It's a plan." Steve smiled.
