I adjusted my black pencil style dress that seemed to fit me like a glove, hugging all the right curves. Nat insisted I borrow it as she is still trying to get Steve and I together. I mean, yes, I do like him a lot and we are attracted to each other but we just don't know how quite yet. But if the dress means impressing him, then I'm not against it by any means.
I finished curling my hair, letting it all tumble down past my shoulders, the heat from the wand warming my back. I smiled at my accomplishment as I actually looked pretty put together for a change.
I made my way down the stairs to the room of people I mostly didn't recognize, which was the reason why I wasn't too fond of parties in general. But luckily I was able to spot Steve who was playing a game of pool with Sam.
"Hey, guys." I smiled walking over.
"Cali, it's nice to see you again." Same smiled back, walking over and giving me a hug.
"It's good to see you too, Wilson." I smiled before looking over at Steve who looked surprised? Taken aback? I'm not sure how to describe it.
"You look..."
"Extra." I finished with a small laugh. "Nat gave me the dress for the night, said she wanted to set me up with a guy."
"Typical," Steve said breaking his daze.
"It sounded like a hell of a fight, I'm sorry I missed it." Sam apologized as we walked to another part of the room, this time with beers in our hands.
"Trust me, Sam, if we knew it would be a good fight, we would have rung you up." I let out a small laugh.
"No, no I'm not actually sorry, just trying to sound tough." He commented taking a sip from the bottle. "I'm very happy chasing cold leads on our missing persons' case. Avenging is your world. Your world is crazy." He said as we looked over the party that Tony was hosting.
"Be it ever so humble," Steve added.
"You find a place in Brooklynn yet?" Sam asked Steve.
"I don't think I can afford a place in Brooklynn." Steve let out a small laugh.
"Well, home is home, you know." Sam sighed, speaking in a smaller tone.
The three of us walked over to Thor who was hanging out with a bunch of war veterans from back in the day.
"I gotta have some of that." One of them spoke to Thor as he poured himself a glass of booze
"No, no, no, no, see this...this was aged for thousands of years in the barrels built from the wreck of Grundel's fleet," Thor explained to the veteran as he passed Steve and me a glass. Apparently, the only ones who could stand the high alcohol content. "It is not meant for mortal men."
"Neither was Omaha Beach, Blondie. Stop trying to scare us." Another veteran spoke as I took a sip from the glass.
"Alright," Thor said after looking at us and shrugging his shoulders.
After the guests made their way out, the group of Avengers sat down on the couch set up in the room. I was sat beside Steve with my legs resting over his lap. I was tired and a little tipsy and was ready to take off my heels and call it a night.
"But it's a trick," Clint said as he fidgeted with the drumstick in his hand, spinning it between two fingers.
