Earn
I'm one hell of a lucky bastard!
I can't help but let out a smug smile everytime I realized that fact.
It was a rollercoaster ride, but one that I wouldn't mind going through over and over again, if only it would meant having Pete with me in the end.
He kept on blabbering about me not seeing the important things and he was right. Not that I would tell him that, but yes. He was right. All along, he was right. For all the things that he had been saying. And for me.
He kept on bugging me to finally make us official, but only to the extent. And I appreciated him more for that. I wasn't planning on playing hard to get for long. It wasn't even my intention to play hard to get, it's just that, Pete was fun and cute to tease. But lately, I felt like the asshole was giving me a taste of my own medicine. He was teasing back.
We are at the cheering club room. The top three winners from the battle of the band competition were asked to perform at the upcoming Christmas festival so we're hard at practice. We were trying out few genres, nothing serious just yet. Pete, who was always on guitars took the microphone saying he'd try out singing.
Pete can sing, but if he would be asked to choose between that and playing the guitar, the string instrument would win in a heart beat.
"Hey, Earn! Listen to this buddy, this one's for you!"
That, and the whole room burst out in teasing.
"Yes to singing, Pete, but no eye fvcking, I just had pizza, I don't want to vomit!" Jeb cajoled.
Pete gave him the finger before he started strumming.
I was laughing but stood still after the first verse.
And if all the flowers, faded away
And if all the storm clouds decided to stay
Then you would find me each and
the same
Cause you are tomorrow and I am today
If right is leaving I'd rather be wrong
You are the sunlight when the sun is gone...
After finishing the whole song, the asshole went up to me and said,
"Very few of those rare moments that I could render you speechless. How about that?" The asshole was sporting a smirk.
I smacked his head before I went up to take my post at the mic stand. I have to get away from him so he wouldn't hear how fast my heart was beating.
Two more rounds of the set that we ended up choosing for the festival, we decided to call it a day.
It was already twilight when we went out of the club room. Jeb and the rest of the guys hurried home to catch on some computer games not even bothering to invite us, much less bid goodbye.
It was just Pete and I on a desserted hallway through the school's exit.
We were walking in comfortable silence, his hands intertwined with mine. I was secretly smiling the whole time. I looked up to Pete looking intensely at me.
"What?!?" I asked.
He smiled befor he crooned.
"You are the sunlight, when the sun is gone..."
Ugh! I loved the guy, but his being gooey was just cringe worthy. I faked gag before I swatted his hand. The moves proved to be useless as the asshole efforthlessy caged me in both his arms and had me leaned in on one of the beams at the hallway.
The bastard went on showering butterfly kisses in my face. I wriggled.
"Hey, stop that!"
Pete asked in furrowed brows.
"Why?"
I smiled before I said,
"I want to do it instead."
The last thing I saw, was Pete's wide smile before I had his lips with mine.
I wasn't sure about a lot of things in my life. I was only confident about one thing. And it will always be the case.
Pete.
All the way.
