The rest of the car ride was silent once again and I was silently praying that we would soon arrive the camp. For the first time in forever, I felt like god had answered my prayers as I saw the walls of city not so far away from from our current position. I dared looking at the people around me. My eyes instantly fell on Camila and I had to admit that the sight was indeed softening my heart. Sofi had fallen asleep her head on Camila's chest as the older sister held her close. Dinah had her head on Camila's shoulder and Ally's one was on Dinah's lap. They all seemed so peaceful as they seemed to get their first hours of sleep since a few days. My eyes fell on Lauren and I noticed she wasn't asleep, she was too busy staring at me.

"You should be sleeping." I stated my eyes staring at the sky once more.

"Why do you care if I get sleep or not?" She snapped rather bitterly causing me to lower my eyes and meet her gaze.

"I actually care about the fact that you won't be able to fight and to defend the city if you aren't rested enough." I answered nonchalantly not wanting to let her know that I was capable of any type of emotion.

"That's all that matters to you doesn't it? Surviving ? Fighting?" She asked in a rather shocked and incredulous tone.

"Nothing else should matter. That's all we have left." I declared holding her gaze to let her know that I wasn't intimidated at all by the fierce I could see in her green eyes.

"What about your humanity huh?" She asked and I could see her boiling.

"You are an idiot if you think that we are still humans." I said with a slight sigh but her eyes went wide.

"You are an idiot. If you are not humans what are we?!" She almost shouted the question.

"Can't you see it Lauren? We are just preys, targets, hunted by undead people and waiting to be swept of the maps. That's what we are. Surviving is all we have." I snapped and I could see her trying to hold back her tears as the words escaped my mouth.

"You don't have hope anymore..." She whispered as if she was pointing it to herself more that to me.

"What should I hope for huh? A better world? Come on pretty eyes, you and I both know that this is the best we can get and that it will only get worse as the days will pass." I declared pointing to the outside world to demonstrate my statements. She looked down and for a second and after a little while let out a small chuckle and shook her head in disbelief.

"What?" I asked annoyed by her sudden crazy acting as she began laughing softly.

"Nothing. I just...I just realized that I would kill to know what happened to you. I would kill to find out what made you become the bitch you are today." She explained and a flash of pain and sadness ran through me as I remembered of my own dark past. It lasted a second before I wore back my emotionless but as I saw Lauren's softened eyes I understood that she had seen it. She had seen the pain through my eyes and she had understood that something did happen to me, that is why I was the woman I was today. We got out of our staring contest when we heard Sofi's voice.
