I can't explain Alex's actions. He's never acted as moody as he's been this past week than he has in the whole time I've known him. First, he kisses me on the cheek after a day of being clingy, and now he's acting like a damn jealous boyfriend.

Why does he hate Chad so much? He doesn't have a right to! I am not his possession.

Besides, if he says he doesn't care if I talk to him, I'm gonna do exactly that.

I exit the kitchen with table 7's order and place it on their table with a polite smile. I walk over to the counter and lean on in it in front of Chad.

He smiles at me, taking a sip of his coffee.

"What's up, Julia?" He says innocently, giving me a gorgeous smile. Still nothing like Alex's. His gives me butterflies and makes my hands clammy, and I just want to- ..Dammit, Julia. We don't like Alex anymore. He's being a jackass right now.

"I was just wondering..." I scramble for something to say to Chad. I didn't exactly plan this out. "why I've never seen you at the cafe before."

"I... haven't come here lately." He says, looking around the restaurant. I nod, believing him. "I used to come all the time before summer. When did you get your job here?"

"Oh, like, June." I reply. "Alex actually got me the job." I mentally slap myself in the face. I'm supposed to not like Alex anymore! He's an asshole!

I just can't help but love my beautiful best friend.

"Really? That goes to show what connections can get you." He smirks, like he knows something I don't. "Hey, by the way, what's up with that guy? I don't think he likes me very much." He pouts and I giggle.

"He doesn't. Though, I'm not sure why. You're a very nice guy." I smile.

Hold up. Did I just sorta kinda flirt with the hottest guy in my school?!

What's happened to me?

"Why, thank you, Julia. I'm flattered." He chuckles, taking another sip of his coffee.

"I'm really sorry about Alex, Chad." I say honestly. I hate it when people dislike me. Except in Rosy's case. That bitch can hate me all she wants. "I don't know why he's acting this way. And, frankly, it's pissing me off."

"Hey, don't worry. I'm used to people hating me." He stares off into the distance and I find myself looking towards he is. There's nothing there. "Madison and I are fighting again. She keeps telling me she hates me and all that. I think...it's our last fight. I am so done with her."

I smile at the fact he feels comfortable to share this information with me. Now it's not only Kate and April being the gossip queens.

"Sorry. I don't know why I said that." He says and I shake my head.

"It's fine. Really." I respond. "Hey, lemme come back with your food and we'll talk more, okay?"

I hope and pray that doesn't sound too desperate, but I genuinely enjoy talking to Chad. Like I said before, he's a nice guy.

He just nods and smiles, pulling out his phone as I walk away. I pass through the kitchen door and find Darrell standing in the middle of the kitchen. I think this is one of the first days of my work experience where my boss is actually at his restaurant. He sees me walk in and approaches me.

"Julia! Where the hell did Alex go?" Darrell isn't angry, but concerned.

"He, uh, ran off." I cringe, waiting for him to yell at me or be really pissed. He simply sighs and adjusts his shirt.
