After some prodding and lots of sighing from Luce, we had dialed Zeke's number. It took April some time to get over the fact that he had put his number in as 'Zekey Boo Bear (;(;(;', but we finally did it. The phone is in Luce's hands on speaker.
Now, we wait for him to pick up.
"Guys, I'm super excited!" April squeals. She turns in her seat and I immediately scold her.
"April! Keep your damn eyes on the road!"
"Sorry..."
Lucy's biting on her nails. I take it as a sign she really might have some feelings for Zeke. "He isn't gonna pick up the phone guys. I mean, he could be sleeping or driving. Ooh! What if he's that kind of person? We would never work! You know how I'm always on my phone while driving. I should actually stop that. Scrolling through Twitter while driving is not safe, not ev-"
Her rambling stops when a voice comes through the phone. "Hey, babe."
April practically screams, I flail my arms out and Katie is clapping.
God, we are all crazy.
"Oh, um, you picked up your phone," Lucy stammers. She doesn't seem too taken aback that we're talking to him.
"I'll always answer if you're calling," I can hear the smirk in his voice. "I'm a tad surprised that you called first, though."
"I am, too," Lucy says. April smacks her on the arm, forcing her to get the info we called for. "Ouch, uh, I was wondering when you're next show is? If it's even in the Chicago area."
"Right. Well, I think we're performing Saturday at the Fitzgerald Pub on 80th street and Whitman. That's somewhat in Chicago, right?" April's beaming and Lucy is off in her own world, thinking about whatever.
I slap her arm to get her out of La La Land. "Oh! Okay, I mean- I guess we'll come."
"'We'?" He questions. "Do you four ever do stuff alone?"
I laugh and Katie clamps her hand over my mouth. Right, this is supposed to be just Zeke and Lucy. (a.n: Zucy? Leke? Luke?) But, what he said was funny.
"We're all super close, so no." Lucy says, smiling at our friendship. Yes, it's all very cliché, but I wouldn't have it any other way.
"Huh, well-"He stops abruptly and yells away from the phone, "UGH, HUNTER, I WILL LITERALLY CHOP YOUR BALLS OFF!"
We all crack up at this. I'm dying in the backseat, April is still trying to navigate the road and sorta failing, Lucy is crying almost, and Katie's clapping like a seal.
My friends and I are so odd.
"Stop laughing!" Zeke whines from the phone. It takes us several minutes to calm down. "God, are you done?"
Lucy giggles and says, "Yes."
"Good. Look, I'd better go. School and stuff. See you Saturday?"
"She'll be there! All of us will!" April shouts, pulling into her driveway.
Zeke lets out a chuckle on the other line. "Bye, girls!" He hangs up.

"I cannot believe you guys are forcing me to do this," Lucy complains, shrugging her military jacket over her arms. I smile and shake my head at how Lucy really does not want to do this.
It's Saturday and we're done with exams. I was so relieved after my last test; I wanted to jump for joy. Now, we only have about 2 weeks left of school. I cannot be more excited for summer.
