OCTOBER 1, 2019

"Hey roomie! How is the new apartment?" I had moved into a new apartment closer to midtown, where my office was located. It was larger than my studio apartment and I could have a pet. I had wanted a Maltese puppy for a while.

"It's fabulous, Heather. When you going to be back in town to see it?"

"Probably not until Thanksgiving when I go see the parents. You should come with me. My dad is going to try and make a fried Turkey this year. He is going to thaw it out first this time. We can't have a Turkey shooting out of the fryer on fire and landing in the neighbor's yard like last year! How embarrassing!" That had been a traumatic experience. If her dad would have had his head over the fryer it could have been really bad. Instead the Turkey shot way into the air and over the fence into the neighbors back porch. It was a ball of fire by the time it landed.

"He is a brave man to try that again. I am going to spend Thanksgiving with my Grammy. We have been getting close since my Pappy died."

"That is great, Em. It is good to be with family for the holidays. The real reason I called you is to tell you about a dream I had. Now don't call me cray-cray after you hear this. I asked Greg if he thought I should share it with you and he thought I should keep it to myself. That lasted about a day but I couldn't shake it and finally I just had to call and tell you about it. I really believe this dream is from the Lord."

"Ok, you definitely have me curious. I am a little nervous on what you are about to tell me." Heather was a strong believer. Her background was Presbyterian. Her calling about God giving her a vision in a dream was out of character for her. That made me even more interested to what she saw.

"Ok, now bear with me. I am just going to tell it to you like I received it. I dreamed you were running. Not in a race but just running down the street. You kept looking back, like you were being chased. The weird thing was you kept running by the same cars and buildings over and over like you were on a loop. There was a guy standing in the road watching you and you kept running by him over and over. You didn't notice him because you kept looking back to see if someone was chasing you. After countless times of this repeated pattern the man reached out and stopped you. It didn't seem malicious. He was smiling and when you finally noticed him you were smiling back. You didn't try to run anymore but just seemed to rest in his arms. That make sense?"

"Uh, sure, I guess it makes sense, but I have no idea what it means! Was I scared someone was trying to hurt me so I was running from them. Who was this savior of mine that stopped me and seemed to protect me? Why was I running the same loop over and over? God didn't happen to give you the full interpretation too did He?" I had no idea what to make out of this. Heather wouldn't be pulling my leg on something like this. My gut said there was something important here but I had no idea its meaning.

"Well, He didn't unfortunately. It seemed to me that you running from someone was more like you were running from something, like maybe your past. I know your past so maybe I read into it but that is what it felt like to me. The man on the street seemed to ignore you for a long time until he finally reached out and embraced you. I couldn't tell much about him except maybe he had strange eyes. He smiled at you but seemed to have a permanent sadness about him. Weird, huh?"

"Freaky, honestly Heather! You talked with my Grammy recently?"

"Uh, no. I have never met your Grammy, why?"

"It's just that your description reminds me of someone I met recently."

"Really, well that could be a connection here!"

"I doubt that very seriously as the last time I saw him he told me in so many words to go back to Memphis and never talk to him again. I had lied to him and felt very betrayed."
