“Hahaha.” I laughed really loud at my TV.

I was watching a show called ‘Wipeout’. A game show of sorts were people go through comical and humiliating obstacle courses for a cash prize. I just liked watching the people ‘wipeout’ some of them were quite hilarious and looked painful. There also was all kinds of goo, water and slippery surfaces and fluids they used to make it more difficult. The show was good for some comic relief when you are bored.

I was home alone on a Tuesday night while my dad and Nathan had some appointment to go to in dealing with his parents. Bet that was going to be fun, once again sarcasm.

So I have been bored ever since I got home from school today so far. Already in my pajamas, lounging in my favorite oversized chair just chilling. Sure has been awhile since I just had time to myself. Before Nathan came I was home alone for a few hours regularly before my dad would get home from work. It certainly was nice to have just some time for me.

Bored of the TV, I turned on the stereo to listen to some music. I could turn the music up loud to since no one was home. As the beat began to enter my body and my hips started to bounce from side to side. I giggled again out loud might as well practice for the dance.

So that was what I was doing bouncing around, shaking my hips and grinding around the house against inanimate objects trying to remember the old dance steps I had learned. Dancing really hasn’t changed too much since I did take lessons. Plus, I had gone to every single dance since I started high school so it wasn’t too hard to keep up with the trends.

I glided to the mirror in the downstairs half bathroom to see how I looked, trying to make sure it was sexy and seductive. Laughing, it was ridiculously hard to try and pull that off while seeing my reflection in the mirror in my pajamas and my hair up in a loose messy pony tail. Anyone hearing this or seeing me would think I had gone insane.

My doorbell rang and I stopped abruptly. Who the hell could that be? I ran to turn the music down and looked at the time on the clock it was six pm. My eyes bulged realizing Nathan and my dad had been gone over two hours. I went to the door and opened it cautiously.

“Hello.” I said to the man standing on my porch. I did not recognize him he looked like your typical pizza delivery guy. He had a baseball cap on and a black hooded sweater and tattered jeans. There was a manila envelope in his hands.

“I’m looking for Greg Crawford or Dawn Crawford?” He asked casually.

“Yeah that’s me.” I was confused.

“Here, you have been served.” He thrust the manila envelope out to me. Didn’t that have something to do with the court system? I took it from his outstretched hand and he left pulling the hood over his head. I hadn’t realized it but it had begun to rain lightly I could smell it in the air. I loved the rain.

I shut the door behind me staring at the envelope and shuffled into the living room plopping down on my chair. Turning the music down further, I opened it and pulled out a thick wad of papers from inside. They were indeed court documents. Skimming through them just to get an idea of what they could possibly be it begun to unfold to me. My eyes widened as I read further and my reading slowed seeing the plaintiff and defendant and what the problem was.

“Oh no.” I gasped.

“I can’t believe I agreed to this.” I grumbled to Greg, Dawn’s father as we got out of the car.

“Would you rather wait until he tried something worse without trying to talk to him first?” Greg said in that tone that always had you think twice. Counselors had a way of doing that.
