9 Years 6 Months Later
“Greg you really should stop trying to do everything yourself,” Dawn’s mother Nancy scolded Greg as she grabbed a Kleenex for Greg to cough into. Nancy could not believe she had let Greg talk her into yet another scheme of his.
“I’m fine,” he grumbled clearing his throat, tugging and shoving away the cords attached to his arm from the IV.
“Why haven’t you told Dawn yet?” she asks.
“Because I have a plan you know that,”
“I am skeptical on this one I don’t think it will work this time it’s been too long,” Nancy sighed at the memory.
“This can be fixed and this thing,” he waved his hand around to all the machinery attached to him in the hospital room, “will help,” he coughed again feeling weak each time he had to come stay in the hospital for this.
“You know she will be furious with you if she finds out the truth,”
“Yes but you see just as I do how miserable…,” he stopped as Nancy interrupted him.
“Yes I do Greg I am just afraid it’s still too late,” Nancy was always the pessimist, and Greg was the optimist.
They sat in the hospital room waiting for the doctor’s and their latest prognosis, lost in their thoughts.
“How exactly will it help fix the problem it runs too deep,” Nancy had agreed but still didn’t understand his reasoning.
“I know my daughter and if I’m right it will work itself out trust me Nancy,” he took his ex-wife’s hand in his and pleaded with her through his eyes.
“Alright but I plead the fifth,”
Greg’s face lit up with a smile. He was shocked at himself about what he had planned but it would be worth it if he was right. He had to be right.
