"he's just a friend!" she tried to reason with him but he wasn't having it. it's been three days of trying to convince him but he was so stubborn on believing that she was cheating on him with this namjoon guy.
hoseok ignored her, pouring the popcorn in a bowl and sitting in front of the television as a horror movie played. lana had no choice but to sit through it with him. she's grown to hate horror movies, something about them that just makes her heart stop.
and hoseok knew that.
this was the ultimatum of horror movies. it was obviously scary but most annoying of all that makes this a horror movie is the ridiculous amount of unexpected jump scares. the climax approached, the night refusing to bring her warmth or comfort, a thick layer of icy air blanketing her. she shivered and just as she moved her eyes from the window back to the television, the ghost popped up.
almost automatically or by instinct, she buried her face into hoseok's thigh. she felt the muscles in his thigh tense but she felt so petrified right now. she didn't care if they've been arguing for like three days, right now she just needed to hold him.
"okay, i'm sorry. i'm really really really sorry for calling you namjoon. i promise you he's just a friend, nothing more." she quickly said as she sat up, the palms of her sweaty hands shielding her eyes.
she heard him sigh. "i wasn't looking for an apology, lana." he said. "i was just worried that you'd leave me."
she slowly removed her hands from her face, looking at him. his eyes were pools of sadness, he was so scared.
and lana knew that.
she looked at him and what she saw broke her heart. he was a little boy, quivering in the shadow of her care. with small eyes, the little boy looked up at her, his eyes pleading. his shrivelled frame as he cowered lower than he was.
"hoseok." she whispered. she just realised. she was being selfish. she was so worried that he'd leave her and so certain of it that she didn't see that he was scared too. terrified. "i'm so stupid." she said, engulfing him in a tight hug with an intention set on never letting go. he placed the bowl back on the table, reducing the distance between them as he planted a soft kiss on her forehead.
"forehead kisses are my weakness." she giggled. her only response another kiss. "i love you." she said, breaking the silence that seemed to dawn over them after some time.
"i love you too."
