Chapter 7

Max throws the controller into the couch in frustration and yells at the top of his lungs while gripping his silky red hair.

"Beat you again!" Jack laughs.

"You little shit!" Max growls and a pen gets thrown at his head.

"What did I say about cussing around the kids?" Gabby yells.

"Shut it, you bitc-" Max is cut off as a storm of laughing kids jump on him.

"Teach him a lesson, kids." Gabby laughs and sits back in her the desk chair.

Max laughs and lightly wrestles with them. The door opens and Cana walks in with blue jeans, a white leather jacket, white shoes, and a brown paper bag. Her bright blonde hair was up in a loose bun showing her diamond earrings and her silver chain necklace. She takes off her black sunglasses and moves them to the top of her head to show her purple eyes.

"Cana!" Two girls yell and run to her.

They were twins with dark hair, blue eyes, and both had freckles.

"Hey, Minnie and Jaz." Cana gets on her knees and hugs them.

"What are you doing here, babe?" Max asks and she stands back up.

"You forgot your phone and your lunch at home." Cana hands his the brown bag and reaches into her pocket.

She hands him his phone and pats Jack on the head.

"Do you guys need help with anything?" She asks.

"I don't think so. This whole week has been pretty slow." Gabby answers.

Cana nods and her phone starts to ring. She pulls it out of her back pocket and is hesitant to answer.

"Who is it?" Max asks and leans over her to read he phone.

She pulls it away before he can see the name and she answers.

"What's up?" She asks and walks back outside.

Max watches her walk away and then looks at Gabby who was just as confused. Cana walks back in and looks up at Max.

"I know you're not going to like it but Aaron is coming right now." Cana says.

Max narrows his eyebrows and tightens his fist, "You have Aaron's number?"

Cana holds her breath and then sighs loudly, "He said it's time I tell you. Please don't get mad but, I have been keeping a tiny secret from you. I may have joined Silver's gang two years ago."

Max glares at her and clenches his teeth, "Tiny? You've been working with the people who abandoned me? The whole reason why I'm fucking like this is because of them! They left me with hardly any explanations!"

"Max, calm down. Just let me explain." Cana grabs his hand.

"Explain what? Explain how you betrayed me and lied to me? I don't want to hear anything. Tell Aaron not to come, because if he does then I'm beating his-"

"Aaron found Cody last night!" Cana cuts him off.

Max freezes and stares at her in disbelief, "What? N-No, he's dead. There's no way he's still alive."

"He is, Max. Aaron's bringing him right now. When they called me they were just down the street." Cana explains.

The door opens again and everyone turns to the two people standing in the door way. Aaron was holding the door open and Cody slowly walks in. He looks at Max and never looks away.
