Chapter 21

Max walks into the dimmed bar and everyone breaks out into laughter and cheers.

"Hey, freckles!" A man yells.

"Oh shut the hell up." Max laughs.

He walks around the main counter and pulls his hair into a small ponytail. The other man behind the bar pats Max on the shoulder and leaves the building. As soon as the door closes, Max grabs his favorite black base with transparent red glass shot glass from under the booth and lifts it up.

"Time to get crazy!" He yells and pours whiskey into it before shooting it back.

The whole bar blows up in cheers and the sound of beer bottles tapping each other was everywhere. Max chuckles and wipes his mouth with his sleeve.

"You definitely know how to run a bar." A deep-voiced man says.

He had long brown hair and a black beard. He had dark blue eyes and piercings along his ear cartilage.

"Yeah, well, I've been working here for a while and have gotten really close to everyone here." Max says.

"I'm new to this place. I just moved here from up North, Lashing." The man says.

"Lashing? That's an abusive town." Max says and pours a single glass of whiskey, "As a welcoming gift."

Max hands him the clear glass and the man takes it and shoots it back.

"Thanks, freckles." The man chuckles.

"Whatever, they just call me that to mess with me. The name's Max." He holds out his hand to shake.

"Theo." The man nods his head and shakes Max's hand.

"Hey, Max I need three more beers over here!" A man from a table stands up.

"Slow down, Jonathan, knowing you this is going to be your tenth one." Max chuckles and grabs three bottles from the shelf behind him.

He leaves and Theo watches him walk to the table across the bar. He reaches into his pocket and pulls out a bag with two small white pills. He quickly pulls them out of the bag and drops them into the whiskey bottle. Max comes back and laughs as he pours another shot into his red shot glass.

"Do you wanna hook up after your shift?" Theo smirks.

Max freezes and looks up at him, "Sorry, I'm not like that. I have a girlfriend."

Max drinks his shot and never notices the pills that had been dropped in.

"Well do you know anyone who is like that?" Theo's grin widens.

"No, sorry." Max shakes his head and pours another shot.

Theo wait for him to drink it before talking again, "What about your brother?"

Max glares down at him and his eyes start to glow with water slowly starting to surround him.

"How do you know about my brother?" Max growls.

"Well you see," Theo chuckles and leans closer to Max, "I didn't lie about coming from Lashing. That place is owned by different people than you think. I don't think your brother knows it but, I was one of the many men that raped him."

Max grabs the empty whiskey bottle and swings it at Theo, but he grabs Max's wrist and then his hair. He slams Max's head against the booth and all the attention from the bar is turned to them. Theo climbs onto the counter and Max blasts him across the bar with his water.

"Funny, the drugs I slipped you should've taken your ability away. You're stronger than what they said." Theo laughs.

"I'm going to murder you, bastard!" Max yells and stands on top of the counter, "I'm going to kill everyone that put my brother through hell!"

"Max!" Three men pull him off the counter and hold him down.

"Let go of me! He hurt my brother!" Max screams and tries to break free from the people holding him back.

Theo smirks and puts both hands on the ground. Everyone screams and covers their ears. Max was completely unfazed and looked straight at Theo.

"Leave them out of this!" Max yells and raises his hands again.

His power wasn't working and his eyes had stopped glowing. Theo stands and slowly walks to Max while everyone was still screaming in pain. Max clenches his fist and jumps up to fight Theo.

Max gets in a fighting stance but his vision starts to become offset and he stumbles to the side. Theo smirks and a hand slaps the back of his head. He turns around and looks down at Madori with a glare.

"What the hell are you doing here?" Madori growls.

"I'm getting rid of one of the targets." Theo grumbles.

"Well, he's my target now. I have orders from Axel to deal with him." Madori growls.

Theo mutters and backs away so Madori could walk to Max. He collapses to the ground and rolls onto his back in a weak state. Madori looks around at all the people still hurting from their ears and smirks. Red beams shoot everywhere leaving no one but Max, Theo, and him alive.

"No!" Max grunts, "why... Why are you doing this? Those were innocent people."

Madori steps down onto his chest and grins down at him.

"I'm just doing my job." Madori gets off of him and grabs a fist full of his hair.

Madori drags him out of the bar by his hair and Theo walks right behind them.

"Let me go. I'll kill you bastards." Max mumbles.

It was hard for him to keep his eyes open and he kept aiming his hand at the two hoping his powers would come back. Theo runs in front of Madori and opens up the white car door. Theo pulls out a backpack and reaches in to grab a roll of black duck tape and rope. They tie Max's hands and feet together then put tape over his mouth. They lift him up and toss him into the car.

"S-stop..." Max breaths and his eyes slowly start to close.

"What's the plan with him?" Theo smirks.

Madori looks at him and grins, "Let's kill him with his own ability."
