Cody buttons the top of his white dress shirt and checks the mirror. He pats down his black slacks and fixes a strand of hair that was hanging in his face. He grabs more gel and slides his hair back one last time before putting the gel back into his bag. He walks out of the restroom and nods his head at the tall, dark blue-haired, man in front of him.
"Morning, Holden." He smiles.
"Good mornin, Cody." He smiles back "Haven't seen you in a while."
"Yeah, sorry about that. I've just been busy with the gang and fighting and-"
"Don't sweat it, kid." Holden pats his head, "Mrs. Bonnie just got here so go tell her hi."
"I will." Cody smiles and walks into a tiny locker room.
He opens the farthest locker that had his name on the front. He types in a code and puts his bag into it.
"Hey, cutie." Someone says and leans against the locker next to his.
"Leave me alone, Jacob." Cody rolls his eyes and shuts his locker.
"Oh come on! I haven't seen you in a month and this is how you treat me?" The black-haired man pouts.
"You'll live." Cody walks past him and leaves the locker room.
He walks through the kitchen that had multiple stoves, ovens, and deep fryers. He walks up behind an old lady who was polishing the coffee cups.
"Hello, Mrs. Bonnie." He says making the lady turn around.
"Oh my!" She waists no time in hugging him, "How's my little boy doing?"
"I'm doing great. Just busy with gang work."
"I might have to call Silver and tell him to stop taking you from me. How's that hunk of a boyfriend you got? And I heard you two adopted a child!"
"Y-yeah." He chuckles, "He's seven and his name is Chat."
"What a unique name! What's his power?"
"He can turn his skin into unbreakable steel. All he can do right now is his arms and knees but he's been asking to train with us so he can harden his whole body."
"As you two should! That young man will become a fighter for this gang."
"Yeah," Cody rubs the back of his neck, "I know he will."
"Hey, Cody, can you help me out with this?" Holden calls out.
"Be right there!" Cody responds and hugs the old lady goodbye.
He rushes over to the stove as Holden points to it, "I can't find my lighter."
"Are you serious?" Cody rubs his forehead.
"Pleeeaaasse!" Holden begs, "I need to get the eggs cooking before we open! I'll buy you a mint mocha!"
"Deal." Cody smiles and lights his index finger on fire.
He puts it onto the grill as Holden twists the knob. It clicks a few times before the stove catches on fire with a little boom.
"Thanks again, man." He smiles.
"Time to work guys." A girl, with bright green hair and eyes, walks into the kitchen and grabs a couple of menus off the wall.
She hands half to Cody and he follows her out into the main part of the restaurant. It was filled within minutes with families, couples, and old men getting their morning coffee. Cody was passing out menus and taking orders the fastest. He was zooming through the kitchen while dodging Holden and Jacob's frantic cooking techniques. Before they knew it the sun was already starting to set and business was getting slower. Cody collapses into a chair that was in the kitchen and sighs.
