Chapter 20

Cody dodges the ice shards and grabs a kid before a chunk of the side of the building crushed her.

"Hurry up and get to safety!" Cody yells and puts her down.

She runs away crying and Cody looks back at the breaking building. The ice blasts had made the building crack and many people were running out from inside. Cody looks back at Madori but gets pulled by the hair and pinned to the ground.

"G-Get off of me!" He yells and tries to get up.

The man pulls out a knife and places it to Cody's neck. He cuts deep enough to draw a little drop of blood and smirks as it runs down the blade. Cody pushes himself up and grabs the guys wrist trying to pull his hand away. The man grabs a fist full of Cody's hair and pulls his head back.

"You damn gang members are nothing but weak fighters. How can you help and protect people if you can't even protect yourself?" The knife gets closer to Cody's neck and he starts to tear up.

"I'm not.....weak!" Cody struggles to say.

"Oh really? Then why are you about to be killed by me?" The man laughs.

Cody throws his head back and hits the man's eye.

"My life doesn't matter! Even if you kill me that doesn't mean I didn't save any lives. You're wasting time on me while innocent people can get away." Cody gets up but the man pins him against the wall, "That's what it means to be a gang member!"

The man stops and let's go of Cody. He watches as the man backs up and slides his knife away.

"You're not like the others. You don't deserve to die." The man mutters.

Cody watches him run out of the alley and rubs the blood from his neck while hissing in pain.

"Cody!" Aaron yells and he looks to his side.

Aaron grabs him and examines his face and neck. Silver and David were right behind him and look up at the ice battle. Cody looks back as Madori gets kicked down and an ice spike strikes through his chest.

"Madori!" Cody screams and starts to run to him.

Aaron holds him back and pulls him away. Silver and David run to the fight and David surrounds himself in black shadows. Silver's eyes change from their bright green to a pitch black. His body starts to get surrounded in black smoke and the man attacking Madori looks up. His ice disappears as his eyes meet Silver's. The guy starts to cough up blood and it starts to drip from his eyes.

"Get the kid out of here!" Silver orders David.

He nods his head and picks up Madori.

"L-Let me go!" Madori grits through his bloody mouth.

"Not gonna happen, kid." David says and runs back to Cody and Aaron with him.

Silver slowly walks up to the man and looks down at him.

"Are you the Gang Reaper?" He growls and grabs the guy's neck.

Silver tightens his grip to the point where the man's face was turning red.

"We all are." The man coughs before passing out.

"We?" Silver mutters to himself and drops the man, "It's not just one guy."

"Silver!" Aaron yells as the building starts to break apart.

Silver's eyes go back to normal and he looks at the cracking building.

"Get out of the way and make sure no one gets hurt!" Silver yells.

Aaron grabs Cody's wrist and pulls him away from the building with David right behind them. Aaron opens a black car door and throws Cody inside. Cody rubs his wrist and looks up at Aaron.

"What the hell were you thinking?" He growls.

"I-I wanted to capture the Gang Reaper b-before it was too late! I'm sorry. I wasn't thinking." Cody says.

"No, you weren't thinking! You could've been killed! You told me you were going to take a shower then left through the window without any warning!" Aaron yells and grabs Cody's shirt, "Headquarters was just attacked last night and you decide to pull a stupid stunt like that?"

"Aaron, calm down." David says and nudges him, "We need to get this kid to the hospital."

"Leave that sack of shit here." Aaron growls.

"Aaron-" David gets cut off.

"He's Axel's son! He's not to be trusted." Aaron glares at him.

Madori glares back at him and then smirks at Cody, "Don't get me mad and make me touch him in front of you."

Aaron growls and his skin starts to turn to scales. Cody pushes past Aaron and David and runs to the collapsing building. He runs inside and Aaron tries to chase after him but David pulls him back. The building collapses and Aaron pushes himself out of David's grip.

"Cody!" Aaron screams and runs to the cloud of rubble.

David takes a step towards the building but his long sword is pulled out of its shieth and, in the blink of an eye, Madori was in front of him with the sword fully through David's body. He falls to his knees and grips the blade as Madori pushes it deeper.

"Next is Max." He grins and pushes the sword up.

David gasps and his hands slowly
fall off the sword. His body becomes heavy and Madori pulls the sword out in one swift movement, the grin never leaving his face. He takes the shieth from David's belt and slides the sword in.

"Sorry, but it's mine now." He smirks and looks back at the collapsed building, "I'll see you later Cody~."

He giggles as he walks away back into the dark city. The cloud of dust and rubble starts to clear and Aaron looks around at the mess.

"Cody!" He screams again and quickly looks around.

He hears muffled screams from near the spot Cody had ran in from. He starts to dig until he lifts up a heavy part of the ceiling and Cody looks up at him. He had a small boy curled up into a ball against him and the only thing causing them to not be crushed was a large desk next to them. Cody helps the kid up and Aaron lifts him out of the small space. The kid looks up at him and Aaron's eyes grow.

"Chat? What are you doing here?" Aaron asks and checks his body.

Chat let's his long black hair cover his face and stays quiet. Cody climbs out and gets on his knees in front of him.

"Please talk to us, Chat." He gently grabs his hand.

"I just want to go home." Chat mumbles and Cody picks him up.

"Okay, we'll go home." Cody says and slowly walks out of the rubble with Aaron right behind him.

Cody stops in his tracks and Aaron looks down at the body in front of them.

"David!" Aaron yells and runs past Cody.

"What's wrong?" Chat asks and looks behind him.

"No, don't!" Cody exclaims and turns Chats head away, "Everything's fine."

"Don't lie to me." Chat starts to cry and buries his head into Cody's shoulder.

"He isn't breathing." Aaron quakes and punches the ground, "He's gone. There's nothing I can do."

"What happ-" Silver runs up next to them and stares down at David and Aaron.

Silver falls to his knees and grips his shirt as tears start to roll down his cheek.

"S-Silver?" Cody stutters.

"Where is Madori?" He was deadly calm.

"He's gone. He killed David with his own sword." Aaron answers.

His hand was on David's chest and both of his entire eyes were glowing bright pink. Aaron's eyes go back to normal and he shoots up.

"They're after Max!" Aaron yells and points to were Madori left.
