"Ow that hurts!" Cody cries.

"I'm sorry but I need to do this if you want these cuts to heal." Ellie says.

The two were sitting on Cody's bed and he was facing away from her. His back covered in scars and bruises. Ellie was rubbing white cream down them and then wraps a bandage around his body.

"When was the last time you ate?" She asks.

"Two days ago." Cody answers.

She sighs and gets off the bed. She walks to her backpack that was across the room and pulls out a black lunch pail.

"You can have my lunch, sweetie." She says and places it in front of him.

"Thank you!" He smiles and quickly opens it up.

Ellie smiles and packs up her bag with her medical tools, "When you're done just make sure to hide the lunch bag."

"I will." Cody says as he takes a bite out of a sandwich.

She smiles at him before walking out of the room and locking the door. Cody quickly eats and hides an apple under his pillow. He gets off the bed and runs over to the tall bookshelf. He grabs the back of it and braces his feet against the wall. With the little strength he has he was able to make enough room to fit the lunch pail behind.

Screams and loud steps come from the hall causing Cody to jump off the floor and run into bed. He pulls the covers over him and curls into a ball as the doorknob turns. The door swings open and slams into the wall.

"Stop struggling, shithead!" Alfredo yells and kicks the small kid he was pulling behind him.

The kid screams and begins to punch Alfredo's leg. He growls and lifts up the kid by his right arm and throws him into the room. His back slams into the bedpost and the door is slammed shut.

"Let me out!" The kid gets to his feet and kicks the door, "I said let me out!"

He punches the door one last time before collapsing to his knees and grabs his throbbing fist.

"A-are you okay?" Cody asks.

The kid whirls around and slowly gets to his feet, "Who are you?"

"M-My names Cody. Don't worry, I'm not going to hurt you." Cody says and sits up, "What's your name?"

"I don't want to tell you. It sounds girly." He pouts.

"It's okay, I'm not going to make fun of you." Cody says.

He looks up at Cody then down to his feet, "My names Madori."

"Cody?" Aaron asks, making Cody snap back into reality, "Is everything okay?"

"Y-yeah... Everything is fine." Cody says but a tear rolls down his cheek.

Aaron sighs and stops at a red light, "You don't have to lie to me. When we were younger you would tell me everything. We can still be the friends we once were."

Cody smiles and looks down at Aaron's arm that was resting on the armrest. He hesitates at first but then wraps his arms around his.

"Thank you." He smiles and Aaron smiles back.

The light turns green and Cody holds onto Aaron's arm as they drive away. Cody watches out the window and looks up at the bright blue sky.

"Are you ready to see your father again?" Aaron asks.
