You let out a troubled hum as you sipped from your cup of tea. Ever since you summoned a certain witty food soul and signed a contract with him, there had been something gnawing away at you.
"Is something the matter, Master Attendant?" Black Tea asked, standing next to you with a worried expression.
Before her mind wandered to conclusions, you quickly waved your hand. "It's just... Have you ever noticed how Milk sometimes avoids Coffee?" You asked her.
You could feel her tense up when you mentioned Coffee, making you turn to stare at her curiously. "Did something happen between them?" you asked, a tinge of worry in your tone.
Black Tea crossed her arms and turned her head to stare at Milk's direction, you following after her. Said female was assisting Jello in serving the customers.
"Nothing has happened between them but, I believe their personalities clash."
That was true, Coffee's outgoing and witty personality does clash against Milk's quiet and reserved one. You let out another sigh. Call it parental instinct or something, but you wanted your food souls to get along with one another.
Suddenly, an idea light bulb lit up in your brain. You straightened your back and turned to look at Black Tea with a big grin on your lips. She could only stare back at you with an un-amused stare before letting out an exasperated sigh, "What plan do you have in mind, Master Attendant?"
~
"I'm happy that I'm able to be of help to you," Milk said, walking by your side. You had called her, Coffee, and Black Tea to assist you in searching for more ingredients in the Secret Forest. Just behind you and Milk was said two.
You flashed her a smile as you shifted the bag you carried, time to set the plan in motion. "Everyone stick together alright? We're only going to be searching around the Old Forest Entry!"
After earning two nods from the two ladies and an 'Alright.' from the male, you strolled into the dangerous area with the group following behind you.
Suddenly, Black Tea started picking up her pace. She walked ahead of Coffee who raised an eyebrow, "Hey, Tea? What's the rush?" He asked, but his question went unanswered as she continued to rush on. She quickly appeared by your side and linked her arm with yours.
"I spotted some potatoes a few feet away." That was all she said before she dragged you in a whole other direction. You let out a yelp of surprise, you didn't expect her to initiate the plan this quickly!
Milk's eyes widened a bit in shock as she quickly followed after, wondering why were her friends in such a hurry. "Hey, Milk! Have you seen where Master Attendant and Tea went?" He jogged up to her and let out pants of exhaustion. Who knew Black Tea could walk that fast?
Little did they know, Black Tea had led you round a full circle and now the both of you were crouched behind some bush. "They'll be fine on their own right?" You asked worriedly, peeking out a bit and saw Coffee scouting the area.
"As long as no Fallen Angels approach them, they'll be safe." Assured by her words, you relaxed and watched Coffee and Milk's interaction.
Coffee walked next to Milk as his eyes wandered here and there behind his shades. The atmosphere between the two of them was awkward!
Milk let out a small sigh, she could too feel the awkward atmosphere and decided to change it up by saying, "Along with searching for Master Attendant and Black Tea, we should search for ingredients as well." He glanced down at her before letting out a nervous chuckle.
"Heh, if you say so." Seeing as Milk broke the ice, he continued to speak. "Does Tea usually walk that fast? Never thought she could go that fast with those boots on." He joked.
You could practically envision Black Tea crushing a stick, out of annoyance, in her hand at his words.
Milk glanced up at him. "Yes, she can. I must wonder... Why did she and Master Attendant rush on ahead without us?" She asked herself mostly as they walked out into a familiar clearing with a river flowing down the center.
Coffee stood next to her as he stretched his arms and back, feeling the warm sunlight on his face. "We should wait for them here. Just beyond this river is the Amara Ruins." He made himself comfortable by sitting on the grassy plains, cross-legged. Milk tucked her dress in before sitting herself down, a few inches away from him.
The awkward atmosphere was about to return until Coffee spoke up again, "Hey, there's something I want to tell you." He glanced at Milk and smirked slightly when he had her attention.
"Is it just me? Or are things bitter between us?"
Milk stared at him. Her stare as blank as usual until she stood up, brushing the dust from her dress. "I believe I heard Master Attendant call for us."
Coffee let out a loud laugh before he quickly pushed himself off of the ground and grabbed her hand. "Sorry, sorry! I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable." He apologized. "But in all seriousness, things are really bitter between us,"
His shades were tilted down a bit as he eyed Milk, it was difficult to speak with her back at the restaurant due to her quiet personality. She sneaked a glance back at him and turned back to face him, her blank eyes staring at his partially revealed ones.
"I don't have a reason to converse with you that's all. You seem content interacting with the other food souls. For other times, you seemed to be in thought about something. That's why I never bothered to chat with you." She had a pretty good reason. The awkward tension between the two of them was not about her hating him, but rather because she didn't really know him too well yet.
When he realized that she didn't hate him at all, he let out an exaggerated sigh of relief and placed a hand on the top of her head. Being careful to avoid her horns.
"I'm glad then! I thought you hated me. I can't have beautiful ladies like you doing that~" He said with a happy smile.
On Milk's cheeks, a faint shade of pink was on her cheeks as she brushed his hand off of her head. "I would appreciate it if you do not flirt with me."
"Oh come on, I'm not flirting with you. I'm just being extra nice to someone who is extra attractive." Coffee managed to finish his sentence before Milk pinched his cheek as punishment for flirting again.
This was the start of a beautiful friendship...
Is what you would have thought if you had been around to see it! Currently, you and Black Tea were roaming around the forest with the map in your hands. "How did we lose them?" You asked yourself before having to duck to avoid the bullets that Black Tea let loose on a couple of Fallen Angels that snuck up behind you.
"Aaahhhh!! I hope they find us soon!!"
