"Master Attendant?"

Letting out a tired groan, you rolled on to your side with a pillow clutched to your chest. Maybe that soft voice was just a part of your subconscious? After a few seconds of silence, you could hear quiet footsteps approaching you.

"...Master Attendant?"

The voice sounded a bit closer now like right in front of you close. You cracked open your eyes tiredly and almost jumped out of bed when your eyes made contact with a pair of bright amber eyes.

"Rice! You scared me!" You exclaimed, sitting up in bed with your pillow held tightly to your chest. Rice had jumped back as well when you did, she didn't expect you to get frightened by her appearance.

"I'm sorry I scared you, Master Attendant." She apologized with a guilty look on her face as she placed her hands on the side of your bed. She was wearing a long-sleeved white nightgown and her hair wasn't tied up. Maybe the fact she looked almost like a creepy ghost girl scared you.

You smiled softly and placed a hand on her head. "It's alright, Rice. You didn't mean too," with those words of reassurance from you, her guilty expression turned into a calm one. You looked over at your tea-pot shaped alarm clock before back at her, "Why are you here at 3:45 am? Shouldn't you be in bed?" You asked her worriedly.

The other food souls were fast asleep and Ichi was too. You can tell because you could hear his snores from where your room is situated. Ensuring your food souls get a good night's rest, you made sure their rooms were a bit further away from Ichi.

Rice padded at the bed in thought before she looked up at you. "I had a nightmare... Of my past, I think?" She said, looking conflicted as she thought about her nightmare.

You moved your hand off of her head and shifted over in your bed, "If that's the case, you want to sleep in my bed for tonight?" You offered her. "We - we'll have plenty of time to talk about your nightmare tomorrow if you want." You yawned at the beginning of your sentence, showing that you are tired.

Her eyes widened at your offer and her small frown turned into a grin. "Thank you so much, Master Attendant." She climbed on to your bed and made herself comfortable. Her long white hair hung off the side of the bed as she pulled the blanket up, covering both of you. "I'm sorry for waking you up so late at night..." She apologized.

Letting out another yawn, you lied back down and faced the ceiling. You felt the bed shift a bit, signaling you that Rice did the same thing "It's alright. Don't apologize for something like this." You told her. "As your Master Attendant, it's my duty to make sure my food souls are well. Both mentally and physically." You said jokingly.

Rice let out a giggle, "You sound like more like a parent instead,"

Both you and rice were left in silence until you spoke up, "You know, I've always wondered this but... How do you manage with that much hair?" You just had to know. Her hair was as soft as sheep's fur but her hair length reaches way past her feet. Sometimes you had to tie it up so her hair doesn't touch the ground.

She let out a hum of thought as she played with a strand of her hair. But before she could answer, she heard soft snores come from beside her. "Master Attendant?" She turned her head to face you.

You had drifted off to sleep while waiting for her to answer. You didn't mean to though. Rice only smiled and pulled the blanket up to her chin, "Good night, Master Attendant,"

The next morning,

Ichi ran a hand through his hair as he let out a tired yawn. "Wonder what should I cook for breakfast today?" He mumbled to himself. He stopped in his tracks though when he saw a team of your food souls gathered by the door, whispering among themselves.

With an eyebrow quirked up in curiosity, he walked towards the group. "What are you guys doing?"

Milk turned to face the teen and held a finger up to her lips before gesturing him to come over. She stepped aside from the door and allowed him a chance to peek into your room.

Ichi still looked curious as he peeked in, but that look quickly changed to one of awe. You were awake but Rice wasn't, she had her arms wrapped around your torso and it didn't seem like she was going to let go anytime soon.

"Help..." You mouthed to your food souls and Ichi. You didn't have the heart to wake her up or moved her arms off of you.

Your food souls and Ichi weren't a big help either. They only waved goodbye to you before closing your room door, leaving you to wait for Rice to wake up.
