Audrey's Pov
"The week of our break finally ended, sadly... I wanted to spend more time with Connor... I've been wearing my sweater more often now, I can feel the cold more, weird.. maybe it's because of the emotions I can feel now, I don't know. But right now, I'm at work, so I'll call you when I can later, Okay? Bye." I said, and ended the text message. The two other people in the chat room responded with an "ok" and nothing more. I smiled at how my two friends, Caroline, and Leigha. They have been with me through thick and thin. (You know who you are.) I always told them everything about my emotions. They cared about me, when nobody would..
A week has passed since Grace spoke to me. I'm quite worried to be honest. My back is fine now though, to which I'm glad about. I started to work the pain out by going on jogs, it really helped.
As I was working, Hank approached me, Connor was at his side. "Audrey, we're gonna visit someone, wanna come join us, he could possibly answer some questions we have." Hank says, I look over to Connor to see him confused, I guess he doesn't know where Hank wants to take us. "I'll go, why not." I say and and shut my computer down. "Does Fowler know?" I ask, grabbing my keys, Hank stops me, and said, "yeah, he knows, I told him it was Business work. Also, we're going on my car, no need to drive two. Okay?" I nodded, and placed my keys in my pocket.
Also, Gavin was back, and Alex must've became friends with him, cause they were standing at the exit, staring at me. I glared, bloody daggers. They seem to have gotten the message, and looked away. We walked to Hank's car and got in. I say in the back, Hank drove, and Connor sat in the passenger seat. While Hank was driving, he received a phone call, it stated that Chris was attacked by deviants, said that they spared him. 'Taking my advice it seems..' I thought to myself.
When we reached there, we got out, and Hank said who they were, even though it was very clear to me now. "Really, Kamski?" I ask, looking at Hank with a blank face. Kamski and I go way back, and I don't really like him.
"Hey, he might not remember you, it'll be fine, maybe he can answer some of our questions." He says, a small frown on my face, I sigh and nod, Connor walks over to me, and asks, "Is there tension between you and Mr. Kamski?" I nod my head yes, and we walk to the door.
I ring the door bell, no one answered for a minute, Hank tried to ring it, only for a blonde android to answer. "Hi.. uh. I'm lieutenant Hank Anderson of Detroit police department, this is Doctor Audrey Pace. We're here to see Mr. Elijah Kamski." He said, timidly. He didn't acknowledge Connor, which puzzled me. "Please. Come in" the female android said, and let us in.
We went in, and she closed the door behind us, I noticed how she didn't have shoes on, which also confused me. 'I'm wearing heels and she is still slightly taller..' I muttered in disappointment. "I'll let Elijah know you're here, but please, make yourself comfortable." She said and walked into another room.
Hank sat down, I stood. I noticed how Connor was looking at photo of Kamski and a young woman. It seemed he knew her, cause he muttered a name. Something like, Amanda? "Nice girl." I hear Hank mutter without looking up. Connor responded with "You're right.. She's really pretty." He then looked in my direction, smiling. 'Okay, now I'm confused. Who was Connor talking about? Me or the blonde?' I thought to myself, looking to the side. Connor seemed disappointed in that.
"Nice place, seems Androids haven't been a bad thing for everybody." Hank continued while Connor sat down. "So you're about to meet your maker Connor, how does that make you feel?" I asked him, looking over in his direction. "Kamski is one of the best geniuses of the twenty first century." He said, walking over to the portrait of him. "It'll be interesting meeting him in person." He continued.
'Sometimes I wish I could see my creator face to face..' I mutter and looked down. "I have a couple of things I wanna tell him." Hank says, looking towards me. Suddenly the blonde android came out of the other room. " Elijah will see you now." She said, and let us through. I was disgusted to say the least. 'Well, this is quite awkward.' I mutter to Hank, who nods in agreement.
"Mister Kamski?" Hank calls out. To which he responds with, "just a moment!" And then swims one round, then gets out of the water. The blonde places a robe on him, to which he ties around his waist. "Well, here's a familiar face. Good afternoon. Audrey." He says and smiles. I only growl and glare at him.
Hank then speaks up, saying, "I'm lieutenant Anderson, this is Connor." Kamski looks in his direction. "What can I do for you? Lieutenant." He said and clasped his hands together. " Sir, we're investigating deviants. I understand you left Cyber life years ago, but I was hoping you'd be able to tell us things we don't know." Hank says and waited for his reply. "Deviants... fascinating, aren't they? Perfect beings with infant intelligence.... and now they have free will. Machines are so superior to us. Problems were inevitable, our greatest accomplishment threatens to be our downfall. Isn't it ironic?" He said, looking at us, more at me and Connor, than Hank. Connor spoke up, "something in the deviants' program seems to emulate emotions... we thought you might know something about how that occurs."
"All ideas are viruses that spread like epidemics... is the desire to be free a contagious disease?" He asked, but before he could say more, I said "Look, we didn't come here to talk philosophy. The androids you made, plan to strike out against our will." I acted as if I didn't want them to fight for freedom, if I have to act, I'll do it. "Either you can tell us something that will be helpful, or we'll be on our way." Hank added to what I said.
It seemed as he didn't really hear us, and walked over to Connor. "What about you Connor? Whose side are you on?" Kamski asked. Connor looked at him, then answered with, "it's not about me, Mr. Kamski. All I want is to solve this case." 'He became defensive? Wonder if that's a lie?' I thought to myself, watching Kamski chuckle. "Well, that's what you're programmed to say.. but you, what do you really want?" He got closer to Connor. I began to glare, think he might probably trick Connor into doing something. "I believe we're the ones asking questions." Connor said aggressively.
Kamski turned to the blonde android, calling her name, "Chloe?" She then walked over. "I'm sure you're familiar with the turning test, mere formality." He said, walking over to her, and placing her on her knees. 'This isn't gonna end well..' I mutter. The rest of what he said was a blur, til he handed Connor a gun, and it was pointed at the blonde android. "Destroy this machine, and I'll tell you all that I know." He began, "or spare it, if you feel it's alive. But you will not get any information on the deviants or androids." He ended.
"Okay, I think we're done here, cmon Connor." I say and step closer to him. "Sorry to get you out of your pool." Hank continued and began to walk to the door. While Hank was talking, Kamski added, "what's more important to you Connor? You're investigation, or the life of this android?" I whisper over to Hank, telling him that I'll handle the rest of this. He then walked out to wait.
