Ben's POV:
I couldn't believe I just did that. And I still had that thing in my pocket.
What was I going to do? Mal had run off. Where did she go? It had been a couple hours now that I was lost in my thoughts.
I had said that I wouldn't make her cry. I said that I would hold her tighter. That I would be the fighter. Yes, that was just the song, but I did none of those things! I just lashed out and let our fight happen.
I had tried to call her quite a few times now but chickened out every time.
How could I have been so stupid?! I blew it! She'll probably never forgive me for this. But she has to eventually, right?
She's my true love. The love of my life. I love her so much and I know she feels the same. Every couple has arguments like this, right? It's completely normal, right?
Then I heard someone come up beside me. "Alright, what did you do?," a voice asked. I looked up. It was Jay.
"Hey. Thought you were still back there at the karaoke club with the others," I said.
"The others are. I wanted to walk around and clear my head," he said.
"Oh. What happened?," I asked, curious. He looked at me.
"I asked you first. Come on, out with it," he said, sitting beside me.
I sighed. "Mal and I had a fight," I said. He looked at me weird.
"And? What started it? What was it about?," he asked.
"I was jealous of Anthony that you guys were talking about. I let the jealousy take over me and I just kept asking Mal about him, and finally she had enough of it. She thinks I don't trust her. But I do trust her. I trust her, not him. I don't know him well enough to trust him. I just want her to forgive me and believe me," I said, looking down.
"You know, I'm really sorry I ever brought that up, it's pretty much my fault," Jay said, feeling sorry.
"No, Jay, it's fine. I'm the one who kept bringing it up talking to Mal," I said. Jay sighed.
"I've picked up the phone for what seems like a thousand times and tried to call her, but chickened out every time," I said.
"Ben! Call her! You'll never live with yourself if you don't," Jay said.
"Fine. I'll call her, on one condition. You have to tell me what happened with you," I said, as he hadn't told me what had happened with him yet.
"So basically it started with Audrey wanting to dance with me," he said. I was confused. "Didn't you guys break up? Isn't she back with Chad now?," I asked.
"Yeah, but she wanted to dance for old time's sake. She said it was Chad's idea actually. That that's how we should end it. And that he might be a good friend to me," Jay said.
"He really could be Jay. Audrey's right. He has changed. You two have a lot in common, actually," I said.
"Yeah, maybe," Jay said, shrugging. "What else?," I asked.
"Well, Lonnie went over to talk to Aziz and tell him that he did good up there, and I may have been a little jealous," he said.
"Ohhh, so you and Lonnie?," I said, smirking. "Not yet at least. Anyway, Audrey kissed me on the cheek as a goodbye and saying that we'll always still be friends, and Lonnie saw," he said.
"Oh, I think I see where this is going. She was jealous and thought that you and Audrey were still together," I said, thinking that's what happened.
"Spot on, and I told her that Audrey and I were just friends and that she was with Chad now, but I don't think she believed me, and now she won't talk to me; but I'm not sorry about what happened with Audrey. It ended like it should, the right way, I guess," Jay said.
I sighed. "I'm sorry Jay, have you tried calling her?," I asked.
"No, I've tried, but same as you, I chickened out. And I won't until you call Mal," he said. "Okay fine. We'll call them both at about the same time, okay?," I suggested.
"Okay," Jay said, reluctantly agreeing.******
Mal's POV:
I couldn't believe what just happened. I just started yelling and before I knew it I was running away in tears.
I sat on a rock. Tears running down my face. It had been a couple hours now. "Mal? Are you okay?," a voice asked.
I looked up to see Lonnie standing beside me. I quickly wiped my tears away.
"Uh, yeah, yeah, I'm fine," I lied, choking back tears.
"Are you sure?," she asked, genuinely concerned, sitting beside me.
"No. Ben and I had a fight," I said, looking down. She hugged me.
"Mal, I'm so sorry, what happened?," she asked softly.
"You know how we were talking about Anthony earlier? You know, how Jay brought him up and that whole story on the Isle?," I asked her, to see if she still remembered.
"Yeah?," she said, wanting to know more. "Well, Ben was jealous of him, and he kept asking and asking me about him to be sure that he was old news and that nothing happened between us, and I kept telling him the truth, but I don't think he believed me. I want him to trust me. Finally I had had enough and I just started yelling and we were yelling things back and forth and before I knew it, I was running away in tears," I said, explaining.
"Oh my gosh. Mal, I'm so sorry. Have you tried calling him? Try to fix it?," she asked.
"I've tried, but couldn't do it. I don't know what to say or if he'd believe me," I said.
Lonnie hugged me. "We're kinda in the same boat there," she said.
"What do you mean? What happened with you? Why are you out here by yourself anyways?," I asked her, curious.
"All great questions. Uh, so basically I went to go tell Aziz that he did good up there on stage, and Jay seemed kinda jealous. I told him that Aziz was just a friend and that I don't like him like that, and I don't know if he believed me, and I am definitely not sorry about my break up with Chad because it ended how it should," she said.
"Ohhh, so you and Jay do like each other, huh?," I asked, smirking.
"Evie told you?," she asked, already knowing how I knew.
"Yep. That girl can't keep her mouth shut when it comes to stuff like this," I said, chuckling, thinking about how excited Evie was when she told me.
"Of course she did, that's true," Lonnie said, laughing.
"Anything else?," I asked, thinking that there was probably more to the story.
"Uh, I saw Audrey kiss Jay on the cheek, and I thought that they broke up, I asked him after she left, and he said that they did and that it was just a goodbye kiss and saying that they'll always be friends, and that's all it was, but I didn't quite believe him, and now he isn't talking to me," she said.
"You were jealous of Audrey and he was jealous of Aziz, and now neither of you completely believe each other, and you're both too stubborn to talk to each other," I said, summing it all up.
"I guess so, pretty much," she said. "So, have you tried calling him?," I asked.
"No, I've tried to, but like you said, too stubborn, and don't know what to say. I came out here to walk around and clear my head," she said.
"Oh. Well, you should call him, Lonnie," I said. "Okay. I will. Right after you call Ben," she said.
"Okay, fine, you know what, let's call them at about the same time, okay?," I asked.
"Okay, that'll work," she said. I pulled out my phone and she pulled out hers too.
I called Ben. It went straight to voicemail. "It must be on silent," I said.
"Leave a message," Lonnie said. "Okay, I will," I said, sighing.Mal:
Piercing words, eyes are red
I can't believe I just ran away
Empty heart filled with regret
I know we were both to blameLonnie had now called Jay and hers went straight to voicemail also and she was leaving him a message.
Lonnie:
And I'm not sorry that it's over
Because of the way we let it end
So I said all I had to say
In a conversation that I guess got threw awayMal & Lonnie:
And you should know,
Please believe me
I've picked up the phone
A thousand times
And tried to dial your number,
But it's been so long
It's never easy,
It's like tryin' to spin the world
The other way
What can I say?Ben had now called Mal and it went to voicemail. Jay was about to call Lonnie also. His went to voicemail too.
Ben:
How did it come to this? All:
I think about you all the timeBen:
It's no excuse, but I wish
That I never made you cryJay:
And I'm not sorry that it's over
Because of the way we let it end

The other wayMal:
So what can I say?Ben:
What can I say?Lonnie:
What can I say?Jay:
What can I say?I hate to think all you had of me
Lonnie:
I said all I had to sayBen & Jay:
Is a memory I left you,
Space between what was meant to beMal:
Wish I didn't run awayBen:
And the mess that it turned intoAll:
And you should know,
Please believe me

A thousand times

What can I say?
Ben's POV:
"Mal, I can't believe that happened. I can't believe I let it happen. I should have fought harder. I was so stupid, I don't know why I acted the way that I did. Mal I'm so sorry. Please let me hear your beautiful voice again. Babe, I love you so much. Please call me back," I said, and ended the voicemail.
"Dude that was really beautiful. She has to call you back," Jay said with a small smile.
"Thanks, you too with Lonnie," I said. He sighed.
"Yeah. Thanks. Now we just wait," he said.
"Yep," I said with a sigh, and we both sat back down.
"I'm glad you found me here Jay," I said, really glad so I wasn't alone through that.
"Yeah, me too, glad I had you to talk to about all that," he said.
"Yeah, anytime," I said. I was shaking my leg a little, nervously waiting for Mal or Lonnie to call one of us back. And about that thing that I had with me. I wanted to tell Jay about it. I had to tell someone.
"Alright, what is it? You're obviously anxious about something other than those voicemails we left," he said, seeing right in my thoughts. I sighed.
I got it out of my pocket, opening it and showing it to him.
His jaw dropped. "DUDE," he said.
"Hey, Evie and Doug are the ones who helped. Mostly Evie. Doug just kept her under control," I said. He chuckled. I then explained to him what I had in mind about everything. To be continued...
Another update! I know, this is kinda a sad chapter :(. And I had to change a few of the song lyrics so that it would make sense in the story. And I know y'all probably hate me for leaving a bunch of cliffhanger-like endings to chapters. Comment what y'all think so far!
