As a last resort, Chanyeol had decided to use the city bus as his transportation to work. His moody roommate basically stole his car so he could arrive to school on time.
Chanyeol, being a self loving, rich man, never needed to take the bus. Of course he knew how the bussing system worked, what city person wouldn't?
So, when he had to stand since there were no open seats, he'd let out a groan.
He was already running on the clock, being five minutes late to his over paying job that had companies just outside the city.
Chanyeol knew public transportation was a bad idea, but what other choice did he have?
The bus was packed with people of all sorts. Chanyeol looked around, silently judging those around him.
If Chanyeol was to be honest, he'd say he's not a very mean person. At least not like the typical rich man. He was different. He had an open mind when it came to people. He may judge you in his mind, but he'll always give you a chance to show him your worth.
Chanyeol had let out a sigh as he held onto the rail above his head. Chanyeol was tall, so he'd seen over pretty much everyone.
He had a sense of intimidation due to his height. Many people don't technically fear him, instead they just avoid him.
Chanyeol took a moment to look at who was near him. To his left, was a kid who seemed fairly young. He had headphones on and bobbed his head to the beat.
Now that Chanyeol actually payed attention, he realized he could almost perfectly hear the music being played.
He rolled his eyes, before glancing behind himself. He saw two guys glaring his way. At first, he thought they were glaring at him. But he noticed their attention was towards someone else. So he looked directly in front of him, but in order to actually see the person in front of him, he had to look down.
The male was short, and facing towards Chanyeol. His head down and his arm up, holding the rail.
Chanyeol could see bright white strands of hair poke out from the hood that covered the rest of the guy's head.
Chanyeol was about to tap him on the shoulder to ask if the kid knew anything about the two behind him.
But, just as he reached out, the bus must've hit a bump or a pot hole, causing Chanyeol to grip the closest thing to his hand and subconsciously catch the smaller person in front of him.
Chanyeol heard a sharp gasp from the small male in front of him and quickly checked if he was okay, "Oh, are you okay?" Chanyeol's right hand was on his shoulder as his left was on his waist, trying to steady the male.
Chanyeol watched as the smaller looked up at him, Chanyeol's jaw dropped as he saw the latter's black eye.
"I-I didn't cause that, right?" Chanyeol stuttered, completely shocked at the sight. Chanyeol watched as a small smile began to form on the latter's chapped lips.
He shook his head, "No." His voice was smooth, despite his looks. Chanyeol let out a sigh, "Ah, well, I'm sorry for grabbing onto you." Chanyeol had completely forgotten about the others on the bus, as he suddenly swelled with worry. Who wouldn't?
The kid was small and seemed absolutely harmless, yet he had a huge bruise around his eye.
"No. It's fine, you did catch me from falling, you just... happened to hit a sore spot." He said as he looked up at Chanyeol, who was extremely tall next to him.
It was only then that Chanyeol realized how close the two actually were. They were inches from being pressed to each other and Chanyeol's hand was still on the boy's waist.
Chanyeol quickly removed his hand and cleared his throat, "Uh, yeah, sorry."
"It's okay. How'd you react so fast anyway?" The male frowned slightly.
"Ah, um, I was actually going to ask you about," Chanyeol turned slightly and pointed towards the two who had turned their attention away, probably because of the hit seconds ago, "Them."
Chanyeol glanced back to the male in front of him and noticed his face darken when seeing them. Chanyeol made a weird face as he suddenly felt uncomfortable.
"Yeah, I know them, they're, uh, just friends." The male said, causing Chanyeol to stare at him, "Friends?" He muttered as he glanced back at the other two.
If Chanyeol was being honest, the two seem to be the farthest from friends to the kid in front of him. Chanyeol felt the need to body block the kid in front of him and do his best to snuggle closer without making things weird.
If there was any type of bullying going on, Chanyeol would be sure to stop it from happening.
So, Chanyeol moved his hand and gripped the vertical bar on the bus, that was just slightly behind the kid facing him. Chanyeol watched as the kid looked up at him with a raised brow, all to which Chanyeol only smiled brightly.
Just as Chanyeol was about to speak, he heard the bus driver speak, "We've reached the city's outskirts." Chanyeol quickly frowned as he stood up straight.
"Uh, this is my stop. Um, where is it that you get off?" He asked the latter as he moved he hand away from the bar. The bus coming to a complete stop. "Uh, mine is actually the upcoming stop." He answered.
Chanyeol was torn. He wanted to stay with the smaller, just to make sure he gets off alright, but he really couldn't be any later.
Chanyeol sighed, "Will you be alright?" Chanyeol's face was of obvious concern.
The smaller awkwardly smiled, "Of course, why wouldn't I be?"
Chanyeol's stomach did a flip, he himself wasn't quite sure why. But he nodded to the smaller and began to make his way off of the bus.
When he was off, he waited a bit so he could watch the bus drive off.
He couldn’t help but to let out one last sigh.
