Mark's Pov

Everything is supposed to be perfect but it's not, Amy's past is still terrifying her. And I didn't tell her but if they find out that I have that photo book of her I can get in a lot of trouble. I was giving orders not to take it. I don't listen well.

"Mark, we got an invite the mail," Amy said walking into the living room. "They are throwing us a welcome to the block party."

"That's so nice of them, when is it?"

"In a few days."

"That will be great, we can meet everyone. We are almost done with unpacking, I just have a few more boxes. Do you want to go to the shelter today to get a dog?"

"CAN WE?" Her whole face lit up.

"Of course, but we need to eat first. Let's try that restaurant down the street."

I got up and got my shoes on as she did the same, I got my keys and out the door, we went. When we got to the restaurant there was a crazy line.

"Mark." She wrapped her arms around me.

"We will be seated soon." I kissed the top of her head wrapping my arms around her. I felt eyes on me, when I turned to look I saw some guy turning his head the other way. "I got you," I said to her as I played with her hair, it helps calm her down. After we waited for a while they seated us in the back.

"Do you know him?" I asked.

"I don't think so, I just felt him watching." She played with the menu.

"He is on the other side of the restaurant and the bathrooms are by the kitchen. He has no reason to come over here."

A small smile formed on her face, but she was still worried, her eyes showed it.

"So, what looks good?" I took my menu.

I saw it in her eyes, she was getting overwhelmed by the menu.

"Baby girl," I said softly, I took her hand.

She looked up at me and her eyes were glossy.

"Pancakes, waffles or eggs?"

"Pancakes."

"Bacon, ham or sausages?"

"Bacon."

"Toast or muffin."

"Toast."

I slid the menu from her grasp, she blinked a few times then looked around.

"Your okay, everything is perfect," I said playing with her hand.

"Too much."

"I know, I'm sorry."

"It's not your fault." She fake a smile.

The waiter took our order and we sat there and talked, it so nice to have a conversation with her and not say anything about her past. I know she feels bad that she has no money but it's not her fault, when she went to the bathroom I paid for breakfast.

"Ready to go?" I asked meeting her up front.

"Yeah."

I took her hand and walked to the car, as I was helping her in that same guy stepped out of the restaurant and watched us. I got into the driver seat and got away from him. I need to find out more about him. It wasn't too far of a drive to the shelter, when we got there Amy was so giddy.

"You ready?" I asked.

"Yes!" Her smile took up her whole face.

When we walked in we were greeted by dogs barking, Amy walked over to the cats and watched them play.
