LESEDI POV
"I am Vidarr."
We all stood silent and mostly slackjawed as he emerged from the land, earth sliding off his shoulders and out of his grassy beard. I looked at Erik and Kelden. They seemed frozen, I wasn't even sure they were breathing. Ingemar looked as if he wasn't sure if he should fight or not. Dalla looked as if she may cry.
"H-Hello, Vidarr," I said softly. "This is Erik and Kelden--" I did a small gesture toward them. They nodded, eyes still wide. " Ingemar--"
"Jotun." Vidarr purred, his eyes focusing on him. "Warlike race." He hissed.
"Perhaps easily threatened?" I tried to explain, earning a look from Ingemar. "And this is--"
"Asgardian girl..." Vidarr purred. "Beautiful."
"Dalla--"
"I'm Dalla," Dalla said quickly, trembling as Vidarr's focus rested on her.
I had to get this moving. "I have come to try to --"
"Save Asgard?" Vidarr finished, his chuckle more like a rumble. "Futile."
We looked at each other.
"Why are you here?" The dragon searched our faces for an answer, but then his gaze rested on me again. "Well, child of Loki?" His head lowered to look at me more closely. "I sense no trickery in you, how refreshing."
"I...I need to get into the hidden caves where my people can hide--"
"Your people?"
"Yes," I said quickly. "We may need to retreat, to hide, as we gauge if Ragnarok--"
"When."
I swallowed hard. "We cannot find the hidden caves. Will you help?"
The dragon bent low to look me in the eyes. "Ah, in love..." his gaze swept over me. "You have a child."
I began to choke up. "Yes."
"Then come with me."
I looked at the group that had gotten me this far. "Go back to the forest. Ready the people to leave."
"Are you sure--"
"I have no choice," I swallowed hard. "Tell my son--"
"She will see him soon," Vidarr assured.
I felt like I'd fall over with relief. Hearing this from the dragon made me relax considerably. "I shouldn't be long...should I?"
"You have worlds in your universe to face, it shouldn't take forever." With that Vidarr took to the air, and then came back down, grassy wing branches fluttering in the breeze like waves of the Asgardian sea, parallel to the cliff I was standing on.
It occurred to me that I was to get on its back. I wasn't sure where to sit.
"Hurry, I don't know how much time we have." I got on its back, which felt more like the bark of a tree, rough and worn by time. I clasped its neck, holding onto branches coming out of its sides.
The dragon gave a nod to my companions and dove into the crevasse below.
