Rachel slipped into the delivery room a light blush gracing her cheeks. She took a few soothing breaths to calm herself and lifted her head up high and joined in with the team already in the room.

"I saw that," Megan whispered next to her not taking her eyes off the task.

"I don't know what you're talking about."

"NO JENNIFER!" Yelled Mrs. Clare suddenly causing all eyes to turn to them.

"Mrs. Clare, we're trying to keep your daughter's blood pressure down not raise it. Please cooperate with her," Madam Reinhold coaxed gently next to them.

"Mom, I swear to Merlin himself that if you do not go out there and get them, I'll... I'll..." stuttered Jennifer.

"You'll what Jenny?! Those boys do not deserve to be in here with you! They ignored me when I told them to stay away from you and I thought I could trust them. Now look at you in the hospital once again!" snapped Mrs. Clare.

"Mom! I'M HAVING A BABY! OF COURSE, I'M GOING TO BE IN THE DAMN HOSPITAL!" Jennifer screamed as another contraction started.

"Mother!" she hissed through the pain, "I will squeeze my hips together and deny this child ANY access into this world if you do not get your ass into that waiting room and bring me my fiancé, and Dean!"

"Fine," huffed Mrs. Clare.

Most of the nurses in the room could be heard clearing their throats or coughing gently to cover their laughs.

"Alright, Miss Clare what do you say we see where this little guy is yeah," Megan said while slipping into position between Jennifer's knees. "As you're a week late and your mid-wife is on vacation my name is Megan Ballias and I will be helping you bring this beautiful bundle of joy into the world."

"Ballias?" asked Jennifer curiously, "as in Daniel Ballias?"

"No," Megan smiled sadly, "Danny was lost to us a few years ago; I'm married to his younger brother Ben."

Rachel let out a slow breath and blinked back a few tears, she watched Megan closely. Daniel's death was a touchy subject for them, but her best friend kept her composure and set about to work checking Jennifer's dilatation.

Rachel waved her hand over the red-head to get a basic diagnostic scan, it was procedure during birth to ensure the mother was just as healthy as the baby.

"Well," Megan began snapping off her gloves just as Mrs. Chare, Kendall and Dean entered the delivery room. "We're going to be here for a bit. You're only three centimeters dilated, but seeing as you're in active labor and your water has broken, we cannot release you. We're going to give you a little something for the pain if you would like."

"Yes," "no."

Megan tilted her head to the side looking at the Clare women.

"Mother, I want the potions"

"I gave birth to three healthy and strong children just fine without them."

Megan watched as Rachel and several of the nurses quietly slipped out of the room.

Their assistance not needed at this moment, "lucky sods," she thought to herself as she watched the two-redheads have a tiff.

"If I may?" interjected Madam Reinhold, Molly sighed and nodded to the healer "Jennifer's pregnancy has not been an easy ride if I am to understand from her file. So perhaps half a dose, for now, would be a well comprise. It will help keep her levels in order and if you wish we can give her a half dose of easy labor as well to gently speed up her dilation.

"Or we can do the non-magical method, it's called an epidural. We have an expert in the field slip a needle in between two discs in her back that will constantly feed a potion into her system effectively dulling the pain the entire time."

Molly sighed in defeat, "Jenny, it's your body. And your baby."

"The half doses seem fine just..." she gritted her teeth through another contraction "just fucking get on with it will ya. Who in their right mind opt for stabbing a needle in their backs!"

Madam Reinhold nodded as she measured out the potion doses, "you'd be surprised, dear."

Megan turned to the Males in the room, "McGuiere," she said with a snotty disposition and raising her nose in the air.

"Ballais" he basically snarled back.

Kellan stepped forward, ready to put himself in-between the two should a fight arise but became very confused when they both laughed and fell into a familiar hug.

"How is my beautiful godson?"

"Tiny and perfect for the time being"

"Did I miss something?" Kellan interjected confused.

"Right! Sorry, this is Ben's wife Megan Ballias." Dean introduced, she reached her hand out and shook Kellan's hand. "Megan, this is Kellan Wakefield, He works with Ben and me at the M.P.D."

"Nice to meet you Kellan, I'm the baby's doctor," she replied with a smile.

"How's Ben? I haven't talked to him in a few days. Kinda been busy," Dean asked nodding his head towards Jennifer.

"Cuffed at you for missing the last dinner party."

"Damn, I had hoped he wouldn't have noticed. What with him trying to get Jefferson linked to that mystery woman he's always on about."

Dean chuckled turning to a confused Kellan to explain, "Meggy here apparently has a smoking bestie whom I've never met. It has become her and her husbands' life mission to pester the poor girl to death with more blind dates then she can handle. Rather than just setting her up with me and being done with it."

"Wait, how have you never met your best friend's wife's best friend?" Jennifer asked curiously butting into the conversation.

"I can answer that one," laughed Megan, "at our wedding, Ben and Dean decided to drink to their health before the ceremony and since I had made Ben promise to not drink. Dean took all of Ben's shots at the pre-ceremony toasting the fellows put together. By the time he had sobered up my maid-of-honor had to leave to attend to a medical emergency. As for the last few years, well they always leave and arrive opposite one another for our dinner parties. Or just don't show up. As for the lack of pairing well... we're not too sure Dean can handle her."

Kellan's eyes bulged out and he laughed at Dean's expense.

"Wait! Don't you mean she can't handle me?"

"Oh no, Dean," Megan said with a smug smile, "I meant exactly what I said."
