"Take them off... NOW"
Rachel rolled her eyes at her demanding best friend, "drop it, Meg."
Megan stomped her foot, "no, this is ridiculous Rachel. The dress is going to be too big!"
"No, it won't, calm down. Besides isn't that what alterations are for?" Rachel looked at herself in the mirror, her focus more on what she wore more than the person in it. "I don't think I like this. I'm going to go try on another."
"WITHOUT THE GLASSES!" Megan yelled after her.
Rachel shook her head as she made her way back to the fitting room, once behind the doors she slid the thick frames down her nose and tossed them onto the bench. Slowly her appearance became slightly different and the dress she wore sagged lightly. Okay so maybe she had secretly spelled the fabric to temporarily expand to fit her.
She allowed the garment to fall to the floor, watching as it returned to its normal size before placing it back on the hanger. Looking at the last three options she had to still try on she sighed, no way was she going to get away with doing it again. Megan was in bridezilla mode, with the wedding only a few months away she knew this was only the beginning.
Slipping into the next dress a familiar voice made her smile, quietly Rachel snuck out of the fitting room into the viewing area.
"Danny what are you doing here?" sighed Megan reaching for a cardboard coffee cup he had offered to her.
"Just as I said, I brought coffee," he said with a smile his eyes casually glancing towards the fitting rooms, "where's your friend?"
Megan had noticed Rachel slip out and stand in front of the mirrors at the next station, sans glasses! "She's just..." Rachels wide eyes caught hers in the mirror and she saw her shake her head slightly.
Daniel Ballias had never seen Rachel without her disguise if she had it her way he never would.
Rachel tuned out Megan and Daniel's conversation as she thought about how they had met. Ben had purposed to Megan right in the middle of their graduation five and a half months ago. Two weeks later Rachel found herself standing in the middle of a ballroom, glass of champagne in hand toasting the couple's pending nuptials.
The place was crowded and loud, it took her forever to find Megan after the toast; When she did her and Ben were standing with Dean talking and laughing. She backed away before they could see her (the last party she had been at where Dean was in her vicinity had not gone right for her.) In doing so Rachel backed right into what she thought was a wall until it laughed. She spun around sputtering an apology.
"Hey, don't worry about it," He laughed lightly before holding out his hand, "I'm Daniel, Bens older brother."
"Rach" she choked out, flushing red with embarrassment, Rachel cleared her throat and took a calming breath to try again. She took his hand to shake and smiled "Rachel Woods, maid of honor."
Daniel twisted her hand casually, "wonderful to meet you," he said while placing a soft kiss to her knuckles.
Rachel wasn't sure if her face could get any warmer, thankfully Ben and Megan had appeared distracting her from his smirking lips. Ever since that night Rachels stomach fluttered whenever she saw him, it was also the night Ben teamed up with Megan on mission 'remove Rachel's glasses.'
She didn't go anywhere without them, the incident at the graduation party had scarred her. Besides Daniel had never seen her without them, he was always nice to her when they hung out and she didn't want him to suddenly hate her for lying to him all this time.
