"But I love you," you said quietly. Drift hadn't left yet. He hid nearby to make sure that you wouldn't get into trouble, since it was late at night and last time you were here you were attacked.

He had seen you. He was going to help you, but John Wick and Carbide had already made it to you before he did. But this time he was sure they were nowhere nearby.

Your words shocked him. You loved him back? He was in love with you for a long time, and had a crush on you before you both have spoken to each other.

He regretted walking away and bursting out like he did. But he was hurt and angry with himself. He almost let you die before. He wasn't going to let that happen again. His training with Ragnarok left him in a lot of pain, but he knew he was getting stronger. Ragnarok had said his training was almost over since Drift was so strong already.

And the moment it was done, he was going to return to you.

He wanted to return to you as soon as possible, but if he gave in now, he knew that he would not be able to protect you.

Drift did what he thought was logical.

He left.

----

It was hard explaining to John what happened, but he had told you he understood and assured you it wasn't your fault. But you didn't believe him. You decided to take the day out until your night shift, since you had nothing else to do.

You were walking around Wailing Woods, the place you originally appeared when you first came to this island. The day seemed like a distant and happy memory, even though it only took place a couple of weeks ago.

What you didn't notice is that you were being followed. You walked to the exact spot where you had met Carbide, and remembered when he took you to the mansion.

You heard a stick snap, and you whipped around to where the noise came from. You saw a huge shadow from behind a tree and you grew terrified. You instinctively reached for your gun, but you realized that you had forgotten it. Why of all days did you forget your gun?

You bit your lip and slowly backed away, looking for an escape route.

"I suggest you stay where you are," said the eery voice of Omega.

"L-Leave me alone," you tried to say strongly.

"I don't think so," Omega said. He stepped out from behind the tree.

"Why would you hide like a coward?" you hissed. Omega shook his head.

"I couldn't just jump out to attack you without checking that you were alone," Omega explained.

"Well, I'm not alone. John Wick and Carbide are nearby, and they surely will take you down," you lied, talking confidently.

"Don't lie to me, little girl," Omega let out a small laugh. "I made sure that they would be busy with some trouble I caused in Salty Springs today." You lost all of your confidence and started to back away.

"Stay back, or I'll start shooting," you said weakly.

"You don't even have a weapon," Omega taunted. "I suggest you come with me if you want to remain alive."

Everything went black.

----

Drift was confused. He was sent a message and Huntress had given it to him. He was just sitting in one of the Norse village cottages that Ragnarok let him stay in, when Huntress rushed in and said it was an important message, and then left.

Drift opened the letter, curious.

"'I have something that will interest you. Come to the building under construction in Tilted Towers tonight at 2 am to dicuss it. Maybe you will want to work with me'," Drift read. The letter had no signature, and he didn't recognize the handwriting. Drift decided not to talk to Ragnarok about it. He was going to go meet this mystery person, against his better judgement.

Sorry this chapter was really short but I didn't want to cram too much content and make the chapter feel rushed. Thank you for the read and don't forget to vote!
