Chapter 12

Jungkook's POV

Thursday - January 3, 2018

I met Mingyu at his dad's garage since he asked me to come earlier than planned. He was leaning against a wall looking down at his phone when I got there. I walked past two guys cleaning someone's car and another filling up a car with gas. Mingyu looked up as I approached him. He walked up next to me and put his hand on my shoulder.

"Alright, you're not gonna believe this." He started, being very vague.

"Believe what?" I asked obviously confused.

"Well, you know how you said you were looking for a job," He prompted.

"I was about to, then you asked me to come here."

"Okay well then look no further because just this morning, my dad fired someone. I told him that you were looking for a job and it's not like you're inexperienced at working in a garage. So he said he would talk to you, but it's pretty promising. My dad doesn't like hiring anyone he doesn't know well since this started out as more of a family business."

"Holy shit, dude, that's amazing. Where's your dad?"

"In the back. Let's go." I followed behind him through the building and out the back door. We found him working under a car fixing something. Or seeing as the car is in very good condition despite it being an old car, he's probably removing rust from the snow that has been gone for a few days now. "Dad, you got a minute?" Mingyu interrupted his father. His father rolled out from under the car and stood up.

"Jungkook, it's been a while." He extended his hand out for me to shake once he took his gloves off which I accepted.

"Likewise Mr. Kim."

"Okay, now that we've all caught up, dad, Jungkook is here about the job opening," Mingyu interjected. I rolled my eyes. He's always been impatient.

"Alright. Despite the fact that I'm probably just gonna give you the job, you still need to fill out all the legal shit. I'll be right back." He excused himself before entering the building.

I turned back to Mingyu, only to be met with a slap on the chest, "I told you you'd get the job."

"Would you chill? Why are you more excited about this job than me?"

"Because I didn't want to be job hunting with you all day. Besides, Jaehyun told me there is gonna be a race tonight. You gonna go?"

"That's not fair, you know I can't."

"No one's gonna tell Nari you were street racing. Come on, for old times sake." He was practically begging at this point.

"I'll think about it." He balled his fist while celebrating. "Sometimes I forget you're the older one."

"Oh shut it maknae." I laughed and rolled my eyes, this time playfully. Just then Mingyu's dad came back out with a clipboard.

"Just fill this out and you got yourself a job," He spoke as he handed the board to me. I simply nodded and began filling out the paper. There wasn't much to fill out, so it didn't take long. "Mingyu, bring that back inside." His dad said once I finished. Mingyu huffed out an exaggerated sigh before taking the clipboard and trudging toward the door. He's also always been lazy.

"Thank you, Mr. Kim. I really appreciate you giving me the job so quickly." I stated once I faced him again.

"Of course. Mingyu may have mentioned a little bit of your situation to me. It's the least I can do to help. Besides, you're like a son to me, this was nothing." At least I'm a son to someone.
