Chapter 8

Rosé's POV

Friday - December 28, 2017

"Rosé, the cookies are done," Talia informed. Talia wanted to make Christmas cookies even though Christmas passed. Then again, Christmas cookies can be enjoyed all year round.

"Okay, Talia." I took the tray out of the oven and put it down on the stove. "Don't touch the tray, you'll burn your finger. Let them cool off for a few minutes before you eat one." I warned knowing how a twelve-year-old's mind works. She pulled her hand away from the tray and pouted. I smiled. She's so cute. After five minutes, I took the cookies off the tray and put them onto a plate where Talia immediately took one. "How are they?" She held a thumbs up as she ate. I also ate one and she was right, they are good.

After eating more cookies than we probably should've, Talia and I played outside in the snow and later came back inside and watched Wizards of Waverly Place. It was around five when Jungkook walked through the front door. Talia immediately got off and ran into the kitchen before running over to Jungkook.

"Kookie, Rosé and I made cookies today. Here."

"Not now Talia. I promise I'll have one later." He sounded stressed. "Sorry." He then went upstairs. Talia looked upset as she watched him disappear.

"Talia, he's probably just tired. Like he said, he'll have one later. Don't worry." She nodded while walking back over to the couch and continuing to watch TV. I could tell she was still slightly upset. "I'll be right back Talia. I'm just gonna go to the bathroom." I went upstairs and knocked on Jungkook's bedroom door. Not long after the door swung open.

"I already told Talia I'll have one later. Can I just be alone for a while?" Jungkook spoke.

"I'll leave you alone after you tell me what's wrong. Talia's upset now." He sighed and went back to his laptop since he was obviously on it when I knocked.

"Another college rejected my application and on top of that, the gas station I work at is going out of business which means I'm out of a job once the new year hits." He placed his head down on the desk. "Why is it now that I'm trying to straighten myself out, everything goes wrong?"

"That's life for ya. That's also no reason to upset your sister."

"I know that. Would you just leave, please?" I could tell he wasn't just stressed and tired now. Something else was wrong, but I wasn't going to push it. I didn't say anything in response, I just shut the door and went back downstairs.

"He's sorry for upsetting you Talia but he wants to be alone for now."

"Okay. I'll just talk to him later." I nodded and sat on the couch again.

----------

Nari came back earlier than usual which is good because my mom said she needed me home for some sort of emergency. I don't know whether it's an actual emergency though. She's done this before just to ask me or make me do something pointless. Nonetheless, I hurried out of the house just in case it was actually important, though I highly doubt it. When I got home, I found my mom in Roman's room.

"Hey, mom, what's up?" I asked from the doorway.

"Oh good, you're home. Roman isn't feeling well and I need to go get medicine for him. We don't have anymore. I need you to keep an eye on him and if anything happens, let me know." I nodded. She's so dramatic. Whenever one of us coughs, she starts to freak out. He probably just has a cold.
