I sat awkwardly across from Shawn as his manger, Andrew and my boss talked. I wasn't really paying attention to them, the adults were talking as River liked to tell me.
I rolled my eyes just thinking about it, I was an adult. Besides that, I couldn't think properly, Shawn was sitting right in front of me.
I haven't seen him since he was a teenager, he was now twenty. He wasn't a little kid anymore, he was a successful young man.
Why did he want me to be his personal photographer? Did he feel bad for me? He was doing amazing things in this life, but what was I doing? I was working at photography studio which I loved. In college, which wasn't the most fun thing ever. I lived with my best friend and I was in a relationship that wasn't the best.
My life wasn't too bad, just one thing made it feel like it wasn't the best. Everyone started to stand up "do you mind if we talk, I haven't seen you in a while." Shawn asked me, as much as I wanted to say no I couldn't.
I just grabbed his arm and walked over to my studio. "Why are you here?" I asked facing him, I swear he had grown at least a foot taller or I hadn't grown at all. "In New York?" He asked "no, here!"
"Why do you want me to be your personal photographer? I'm fine where I am and I don't need your help!" I snapped at him, he looked taken back. I had never spoken to him like that before, I was never mean to anyone.
"Camila" he started "I didn't even know this was your work until I showed Andrew" Shawn tells me. "Why are you even looking for photographers anyways, don't you have one?" I asked
"At the moment no" he replied, I would feel awful if I refused the job. "Will you take it?" He asked "Shawn, I don't know" I answered looking away from him. "Is this because you have to work with me?"
"No!" I shouted now I felt horrible "we used to be best friends what happened?" I asked "I don't know, I stopped talking to you because I got busy which was stupid." He tells me "I would have understood" I replied facing him.
His face had changed a bit, but not too much. His hair was definitely a little long, it has little curls in it. It was definitely adorable, his eyes just as I remember. His eyes were just brown, but they were probably the most beautiful brown eyes I have ever seen.
"I know you would have, I'm just an idiot" Shawn says "you're not maybe you can be a little bit stupid, but I still love you" I responded. He just laughed and smiled at me, did I just say I loved him? He probably thought of it as a friendly way, hopefully.
"Are you going to take the job?" Shawn asked me "I don't know, I still haven't spoken to my family about it and Finn wasn't too happy about it" I say "Finn?" He asked confused "oh, my boyfriend" I said.
"How did you get a boyfriend and I'm still single?" He asked "shut up" I tell him as he laughed at me. "Maybe if you stopped writing songs about the girl and actually told her how you felt you wouldn't be single." I added
"You heard them?" He asked "of course, who hasn't! Who's the girl?" I asked simply, I needed to know he moved on so I could too. "No one special" Shawn mumbled.
"so, will you take the job?" He said again "you get to travel, I know you always wanted to travel" he added trying to convince me. "I'm going to France and I know you've have always wanted to go there."
"Stop it" I tell him "what?" Shawn asked "I know what you're doing" I said crossing my arms looking at him. "I'm not doing anything" he replied "yes, you are and you know it. You're just telling me things to make me take the job, how do I know you're really going there?" I questioned
"When have I lied to you?" Shawn asked me "you said you'd never leave me, but you did" I said my eyes widen as I said that. I didn't mean to to say it, it just came out. Why did I make everything worst? He had explained and apologized.
"Camila, I didn't know I made you feel this way" Shawn said to me "I-I didn't mean to say that just forget it" I said starting to walk away. "I'll take the job" I added "wait, talk to me" he said grabbing my arm and pulling me closer to him.
"It's fine, Shawn, let's just go" I tell him "Camila, please talk to me" he said "just tell me, I'll fix it I promise I mean I'll try my hardest" he added. "Shawn, you're too sweet" I said giving him a soft smile I unintentionally placed my hand on his cheek.
I quickly pulled my hand away "uh lets get going."
We both walked out of the studio Shawn walked over to his manger who was talking to my boss. I decided to get my things together, I had to tell my parents about this. I took a job without even mentioning it to them.
"You going anywhere after this?" Shawn asked walking over to me "um, not doing anything important" I answered "why?" I asked raising my eyebrow at him. "I was wondering if you wanted to hang out like old times?" He asked me.
"Sure, I have the perfect idea"

I think my all time favorite is This Is What It Takes, I don't know why I just really like the song. When you listen to it it kinda seems like everything it's going to be fine, well for me. It's just a cute little song.
