Archer: Avery..
His voice was not loud, he meant to go calm her down, but Crystal held him back
There was constant murmuring amongst the spectators
Avery turned towards her competitor, Jaera, only to find her Griffin tied down, and not even petrified
Jaera of course, gave Avery her back as not to get petrified herself
Avery's voice was so cold, some of the younger shifters got goosebumps
Avery: What is this? Are you going to tell me I'm clumsy in execution again, while your precious pet here didn't even perform her task? Or were you too scared to lose her?
She only heard the dragon king's voice, but didn't see him
Dragon king: So you made it, interesting specimen you've got there, Archer. Usually the only one fast or strong enough to petrify this strong a Griffin is a full Gorgon. Jaera here can do it of course, but why risk losing any of my assets? You've surprised me, child of Gorgon and gargoyle..
Avery laughed manically: You didn't even expect me to make it.. Are you kidding me!
Dragon king: You needed to learn a lesson. Never interfere with our ways. Besides, you are the one who wanted a bigger challenge. Perhaps you need another lesson, you don't seem to have learned a thing..
She grit her teeth, but it was starting to sink in, she didn't want to die here. She would play along for now, but he will pay for it
Her eyes changed back
Dragon king: Take her to the healer, and starting tomorrow, hybrid. You are to train with Jaera, in all forms of combat
-----------------------------------------------------------The daughters of Medusa looked towards her and turned to leave, expecting her to follow
Only one of them stayed, and beckoned to her with a gesture and smile
Avery looked discretely for Archer and Crystal. The duo were leaving the clearing. She sighed and followed the girls
Once they were out of the shifters' earshot, Jaera turned with a glare to the smiling girl: Since you seem so fond of her, you take her to the healer. I have no time for this.
She left with the others, entering a large building near by
The girl held Avery's hand and dragged her to a smaller building next to the one the others entered
Girl: I'm Lily. It's very nice to meet you. You were awesome back there!
Avery: My name's Avery
Lily shook her hand enthusiastically
Avery: Is this the infirmary?
Lily nodded: You'll like Amelia, she's very nice
Avery: She's the healer then
Lily: Yes! Hey, is it true you've never met another daughter of Madusa before
Avery: Yes. I haven't
Lily: And you're part gargoyle?
Avery: Yes
Lily: That's so cool
Avery looked at her funny
Lily dragged her into a room, where a middle aged woman stood
Lily: Amelia! Look, we have a new sister!
The woman turned and Avery got a better look at her. She looked beautiful, and her face seemed more youthful upon closer inspection. Something nagged at her as well. There was something familiar about the woman
Amelia extended her hand for her to shake: Welcome. You must be Avery
Avery: Yes, it's nice to meet you
Amelia smiled, she looked kind, and Avery liked her instantly
Amelia: Don't look so shocked. Word travels fast here
Avery was still thinking about the nagging feeling, then it hit her
Avery: Excuse me, but do you happen to be Archer's mother?
Lily: You call the prince by his name?!
Avery frowned: Doesn't everyone?
Lily: Only the shifters and the king. The rest of us don't
Avery: Oh..
Amelia: Lily.. You still cut through conversations..
Lily scratched her cheek and blushed a little
Amelia smiled: Yes child, I am his mother, but it's not talked about here, so don't tell anyone that you know. You are very observant..
