Avery travelled with the gargoyles. They were all staring at her. She was very uncomfortable

Her father noticed, sighed, led her into a cabin in a small ship and kept her company

He cleared his throat: So.. You must have a lot of questions

She only shrugged

He said: Has Annie told you anything about your origins?

She replied: She taught me everything she knew about halph gorgons and gargoyles

He asked: What about us, your parents?

She sighed: Not much.. She described my mother to me, told me she had died

He looked pained, and she cleared her throat, uncomfortable: It sounded she really liked her

He smiled faintly: She did.. What about me?

Avery: What about you?

He sighed: You really are like her

Avery dropped her gaze. He gently lifted her chin: How did she die?

Her eyes brimmed with tears, his look was just so sad and empathic

Avery: They were coming for me.. She defended me until her last breath. I fled.. I was so weak..

A tear dropped, then another, and soon she was sobbing while he hugged her

He cooed: Let it all out.. You must have been only a child

Avery: I was 12. I was able to morph. I was just a coward

He smoothed her hair: You were a child still, and there must have been too many for you to take

She looked at him: Why haven't you looked for me

He replied: The union between species was forbidden. No-one knew about you but Annie. And when suspicions aroused, we entrusted you to her. My sister might've been human, but she was one of the strongest, smartest women I knew. Your mother was killed, and I just thought it safer to you if no one could find you, including me. The others, I feared what they would do to you if they found out, so I bid her hide you, and she did it so well I couldn't find you later. I had no idea she died..

Avery: How did you find me now, and why? Do they know I'm a hybrid

He nodded: They know, and about the how, a friend of yours found us, told us you were captured by forces of the pure bloods. We made some inquiries and here we are

Avery: A friend?

He replied: A boy named Alec

Avery almost jumped: Where is he? Is he alright?

He chuckled: Calm down, both he and his friend Natalie are waiting at our base. You'll see them soon enough

She relaxed

Just then he was called from outside: Gavin! We need you

Gavin: Coming!

He left her alone to her thoughts and joined the others to help
