Avery frowned, why was Amelia being Archer's mother not talked about?

Amelia smiled at her again and shook her head, with a glance at Lily

Avery nodded

Amelia: Lily, I'd like you to bring a few herbs for me

Lily: Of course!

Amelia handed her a list

Once she left:

Amelia: Lily is a very nice girl but she's not the greatest at keeping secrets. Besides, the girl has enough share of trouble as is

She sighed: You are aware of dragon shifters' origins, aren't you?

Avery: I am

Amelia: The first dragon that dragon shifters originated from was the dragon king. He was quite youthful in comparison to now, and ambitious. He wanted to be able to work with or against the other species and interact with them with ease.. So he contacted a witch. With her help, he planted seeds of himself in mortal women's wombs. Marriage is different for dragons. He requested a bride every now and then, and people feared him, so granted his requests. He allowed a few select others, dragons loyal to him, to become fathers of shifters as well, yet he made sure, every offspring of his subjects married an offspring of his. Essentially, he is the father of all dragon shifters. He was unchallenged for a long time. At first not everyone agreed with blending dragon blood with human. Dragons are proud, many were not happy he tainted their pure blooded race, but he was the strongest, and those who opposed him, perished..

The shifters born were raised solely by dragons, and humans he deemed appropriate. The dragon part was more dominant in the first generations, making them detached, but as time flowed, it became more diluted perhaps, and the newer generations have become more human. I think he dislikes that about us, and for his future replacement to be born from one of us.. My Archer is sweet. He doesn't like the servitude and slavery of the other species.. This only makes him weak in his Majesty's eyes. Even though he doesn't have a replacement for him, he's tried breeding again with humans with the aid of magic, but no other golden dragon shifter was born. This is why he doesn't like him but still tolerates him. For only a golden dragon can be king or queen

Avery looked lost in thought: Still why are you not talked about? Other than you clearly being of the younger generations

Amelia sighed: A healer is not supposed to be a high rank shifter, and I am the heir's mother. There's also the fact that I have a bit of magic in me

Avery: Huh?!

Amelia grimaced: One of my ancestors was a witch, who bred with the king, she then tried to take her offspring with her and the king killed her. He doesn't like being reminded of that fact, still I'm the one who gave birth to his heir, must be another reason for his dislike. I think part of the reason Archer is a golden dragon is because of my magical lineage

She shrugged: Mark wasn't though.. Even though he was magnificent on his own

Avery: Mark?

Archer: He's my brother
