Chapter 6: Here’s the Dealio

Michaels POV

*4 hours earlier*

I stormed out of the school bathroom, furious. My rage consumed me like an ever growing inferno. How could Calum do that to me? I wondered. How could he say that right in front of my face? A small portion of my brain was depressed at the events, and rambling on all the words I did not need to hear.

He doesn’t care about you. It wailed. He’d rather have the other boy, who is so much better than you. I let out an infuriated roar and slammed my fist into a nearby locker. Random people looked at me in horror, before hurrying away. I ran out of the school as quick as possible, and wiped away hot tears. My mind went on, continuing its endless torment.

I bet that Ashton is better than you at everything. It lectured me. All you do is hurt others, and use yourself to get what you want. Ashton is smart, probably funny, and handsome. But look at you! You change yourself all the time to accommodate how you want to be seen.

“Shut up!” I screamed at myself. The words whirled around in my head, making it impossible to see anything. The whole while, I never stopped running. I kept going until I collapsed into a pile. Tears fell all over me, washing away my pain. After a long time of just bawling, I looked up to see where I was. Large cylinder blocks sat at all sides unused, cranes and bulldozers sat fossilized amongst tall beams.

“I knew you would go here.” A smooth voice said behind me. I whipped around to see Calum leaning on a cement tube. “This is where we met, isn’t it?” he smiled.

“Why do you care?” I growled. “Why aren’t you with your boyfriend?” pain seeped out of me in the way of tears.

“I am.” He spoke softly. He stood straight and started walking over to me. “I’m here with you, not Ashton, aren’t I?” Calum knelt down to where I was crouched. He put a hand on my back, but I shrugged him off of me.

“You said you wanted him back!” I screamed. More and more tears fell down my face as I looked at the boy I loved. “You always wanted Ashton, never me.” I cried. I hunched over and hid my face from him. Calum didn’t deserve to see me like this.

“I didn’t mean it.” He tried to console me, but I could tell when Calum lied to me.

“You’re lying to me!” I whispered. I looked at him, and saw he was chewing on his lip. “You always do that when you lie to me!” I pointed to his lip. “Admit it! You’ve wanted Ashton since the very beginning, and I was just some sex toy to you!” my words had escalated into full out screams of anger and pain.

“Mikey that’s not at all how it was!” Calum tried to say, his bottom lip quivering. “I love you so much it hurts! Why can’t you see that?”
