Chapter 12: Let's Talk pt. 2

Chapter 12: Let’s Talk pt. 2

Michael’s POV

I looked at the ring, now shining brightly on my finger. I could faintly hear everybody cooing at the sight of Calum and I, but Calum’s words floated through my mind. Everything he said to Luke, Ashton, and then me. It was deafening, those words that healed me, but at the same time wounded me more than before. Knowing was one type of pain, but hearing the person you loved most explain it, that was the worst pain I had ever experienced.

“I’m sorry to kind of ruin this moment, but I have a question.” Leigh-Anne’s voice piped up from the far part of the room. We turned to face her, confusion on everybody’s face. “Um, Calum, you mentioned something the other day, when you were drunk.” Leigh looked down at the floor.

“What would that be?” I asked, worry swarming me. Was it about me, or Ashton?

“He, was singing, I guess. It was hard to tell. He was plastered as all hell.” Jesy spoke in place of Leigh-Anne. “It was two different songs, I think. They were at different times of the night. One was a bit quicker paced, but the other was slow, and sad.” Jesy and Jade nodded.

“I remember that!” Niall blurted. “One was talking about kissing at stop signs, the other was talking about waking up…” Niall drifted off in thought. I turned to look at Calum, only to see his skin blanched, and eyes wide.

“What are they talking about?” I asked him. He turned to look at me with sadness in his face. “I won’t be mad babe, just tell me.” Calum nodded and cleared his throat.

Calum’s POV

“I was singing our song first.” I swallowed hard, letting the words hang for a second. “Long Way Home, I was singing Long Way Home.” I clarified to everybody else. “The other song was, Amnesia.” Mikey’s hurt shone brightly in his eyes. “I was drunk, like they said, and I was in a really bad place, and you two make me happiest and those songs were for you guys.” Michael nodded, and turned away.

“I’m not upset Cal.” Michael lied. “What’s the song about?” he switched subjects before I could call him out.

“I, uh, don’t know how to explain it…” I shrugged and sat down on the arm of a nearby chair.

“Would it be bad if I helped out?” Ashton walked towards Mikey. Michael shook his head, Ashton took a deep breath. “It’s about, missing somebody you love so much, and that person has moved on, even though you haven’t. The pain of missing them is so surreal, you want to wake up with amnesia.” Right on the dot, I thought to myself.

“Is that true?” Michael asked me. I nodded stiffly. Michael smiled at me, catching me off guard. “It sounds great.” What in the hell? “It’s a great sounding theme, and with your voice it would be perfect.”

“Relationship goals.” Leigh-Anne laughed. Her and Jesy sat there giggled. “Why are you so damn cute?” she asked us. I shrugged with a small laugh.

“So, do you guys think all will be forgiven between you four?” Harry asked in his slow voice. “Like, will  you all be friends again?” I looked at those three people. My beautiful Michael, the boy I’d never want to lose. Ashton, the boy who won and broke my heart. Luke, the boy who stole Ashton away from me in the most devastating way.

“Yeah, we’ll be okay.” I smiled. If I hide myself away, we’ll be okay.

Luke’s POV

“Yeah, we’ll be okay.” Calum smiled at us. Under his tone, I heard the pain that truly resided deep inside of him. I didn’t truly know what the pain came from. Sure I had ideas, but to voice those would only start another war between us.

“Do you think that all of us will be okay?” Sophia asked, her sweet voice filling the room. “I mean, Perrie nearly stabbed Lou the other day…” she trailed off.

“What the hell?” I exclaimed while Perrie scoffed.

“He tried to kill my cat!” she defended.

“I accidentally tripped over the little cotton ball!” Louis defended back. “The little shit ran in front of me, not the other way around.”

“I’m so fucking confused.” I muttered under my breath before laughing. Why was I laughing? Laughter exploded from my chest filling the room. I heard Ashton giggling next me, Mikey and Cal laughing as well.

“Why are we laughing?” Ashton asked me between breaths. I shook my head, tears slipping and running down my red cheeks. After a few minutes the four of us calmed down, our breathing difficult at first. I looked up and saw everybody else watching us warily.

“You guys don’t get it do you?” I asked, trying my hardest not to erupt in laughter all over again. They all  looked confused. “You all are acting so stupid! Over absolutely nothing!” laughter bubbled up again. “You are the closest group of friends I’ve ever met! And here we are, you all divided because you don’t agree on the correct reasons for a breakup. A breakup for a couple that is back together!” I keeled over laughing, everybody else saying nothing.

“He’s so right!” Sophia laughed. “Oh gosh we’re stupid!”she laughed loudly. Liam nodded instantly agreeing, and laughing with her. Soon, everybody was laughing.

“I’m sorry Louis.” Perrie made out through her chuckles. We all calmed down some, the occasional giggle popping up. “I didn’t mean all that I said.” Louis nodded.

“Me too.” He said solemnly. “Sorry I almost killed Prada.” Perrie smiled and nodded. I looked at everybody, their smiling faces looking at each other, then at us. I turned to Ashton, our eyes met.

“I love you.” I whispered to him. He leaned forward and pecked my lips softly.

“I love you too.”
