Jungkook took a napkin and slowly patted the fabric against Yeri's forehead. "You are bleeding, so let me help you. This isn't about pride or babysitting anymore. This is straight bullying. Did the girls do that before?" He asked as he inspected the wound on Yeri's head. The girl lowered her eyes, ignoring his question. What was she supposed to answer? Oh, well yeah. They do that all the time, in class, in break time, sometimes even after school. They know my father is the CEO of a big company so they think it's fun to see me suffer.
Yeri frowned, pushing Jungkook off with all the energy that was left. Tears rolled down her cheeks and she sniffed, feeling humiliated. "So what? What if they do? Can you stop pretending as you care? You only took this job for the good-paying, did you forget? Leave me alone! You have no right to get involved in my life!" The girl stormed off the school, her clothes still messed with all the food. Jungkook sighed and looked at the napkin with the blood. "You are so stupid, girl. So stupid." He shook his head at her childish behavior and decided to follow her before she got into more trouble. But before that Jungkook quickly dropped by the office and told the secretary they were leaving since Yeri wasn't feeling good so she wouldn't get more lessons absent.
Following the younger silently from a short distance, Jungkook had a lot of questions in his mind, burning to ask her but he knew she wouldn't answer them anyway. What did he even do that she hated him so much? He stuffed his hands in his pockets and carefully watched Yeri's surroundings so she wouldn't hurt herself by tripping. She seemed lost in thoughts and didn't even realize that Jungkook was following her. And that she was walking the wrong way home, too.
Sighing, Jungkook jogged a little to catch up on Yeri's speed. "You know, we are currently walking away from your home." The girl didn't flinch nor was surprised. She had her eyes locked on the ground, just walking. It was like she knew where she was walking so Jungkook decided to stay quiet and follow her. At least she wasn't alone and he knew where she was.
A while later, but still feeling like walking forever, Yeri finally stopped and looked up. Jungkook only now realized that they were near the Han river. But what he didn't know was that such a place existed before. This part of the river was completely free of other people, only trees, and some rocks. Yeri neared the river and sat down on the grass, pulling her legs close to her chest. Jungkook did the same and looked at the water hitting the shore, in strong waves. The sound of the water, the light breeze of the trees, and the smell of the flowers around them made him relax inside.
"I always come here when I need to be alone and sort my mind."
Jungkook's head shot to the side when Yeri spoke and he raised his brows at the pain in her voice. He licked his lips and decided to ask her finally, "Yeri, why... I mean, why are you not fighting against them... You know those two girls..." He looked at her with sincerity and Yeri smiled softly, grabbing a stick to play with it. "You seem like a girl who can not only verbally, but also physically fight back."
"My mom always taught me to never fight with someone who isn't worth it. Even if people hate me, fight me, or hurt me... I promised to never fight back. The pain is only temporary so why bother with it? Karma will sooner or later come back around," Yeri turned around to look at Jungkook who obviously seemed surprised. "Yeri, uh... where is your mom? I have been living in your mansion for almost a month now, but I never had the chance to get to know your mother."
The girl lowered her eyes as they filled with tears and she smiled widely at the thought of her mother. She looked up at the sky and took a deep breath. "I will introduce you to her once the time has come."
Jungkook frowned, there was so much Yeri was hiding, he wanted to know everything about her but why was he curious about her? He sighed and stretched his legs, "Since you answer my questions so nicely, I will take this chance and ask you one last. Why do I have the feeling that you hate me? What did I do that you grew such a strong feeling of hate towards me?"
Yeri laughed, throwing her head back. Jungkook was startled and widened his eyes at the new, unknown melody of her laughter. Her eyes got smaller as she laughed and she covered her mouth with her small hand. "I don't hate you! Well, okay you are cocky, rude, sassy and so selfish. You love yourself, that's nice, but you are so full of yourself and your interests only. That's what I hate about you. But I don't hate you. Do you know what I mean?"
Jungkook frowned, a small pout making him look like a baby. Yeri chuckled and shifted so she could face him. Her knees touched his thighs and she lightly slapped his biceps. "You were the first one to see me cry. I never - never - cried in front of anyone before. I fucking hate you for that. You were also the first one who noticed my crush on Sehun." Her voice faded and she remembered how Sehun laughed at her at the canteen earlier. "I hate how you noticed that so quickly... I wonder if others noticed that, too... Am I making a fool out of myself?"
"That Sehun dude is a total jerk I don't understand how you could fall in love with him." Jungkook scoffed, shaking his head. "He doesn't seem to give a fuck about you even though his father is your father's assistant." Yeri raised a brow, crossing her arms in front of her chest, "How do you know so much about him?"
Jungkook coughed and looked around, "Ah, well you know... Maybe I asked Suhyun..." Yeri scoffed, her jaw falling. "She is such a backstabber how could she tell you that- wait... did she tell you anything else?" Jungkook smiled widely, "She is really naive, but she is a good friend. I asked her so I could protect you better and understand your actions better. Don't blame her. It feels like you have so many secrets and desires... I really want to know about you, Yeri."
Both looked at each other in silence for a while before Yeri diverted her eyes and looked for something to play with. She grabbed the stick again and sighed. Jungkook gulped and also turned his head around. "You know Jungkook... The heart of a woman is like an ocean. An ocean is full of secrets. Secrets that one wants to either forget or keep in memory forever."
"Ew, did you just use a quote from Titanic?" Both began laughing and Jungkook smiled looking at Yeri being happy again. It seemed like she forgot about the incident in the canteen earlier, even if it was just for a little while. "Come on." The boy stood up, patting the dust off his pants. He reached his hand out and helped Yeri up, too. The girl was confused and looked at him with questioning eyes. "Let's go home. I will cook some ramen and we will watch Titanic. I think today was a little too much, we need a break."
Yeri smiled and nodded, she looked at Jungkook's hand and grabbed it. His big hand engulfed her small one completely and she chuckled as she curled her arms around his biceps. "Even though you are annoying as fuck, it is also good to have you around in times like these."
Jungkook smiled, trying to hide his racing heart against his chest. They began walking and for just a moment Jungkook wondered how it would be if Yeri was his girlfriend.
