bailey had spent much of the evening napping in her brother's room. she couldn't quite remember the last time she got in a nap this long without feeling any shred of stress, it was safe to say that college was catching up to her.
once she had woken back up, she let out a yawn and stretched, peering over at the clock beside her. it was well into the evening, the setting sun casting shadow's through the blinds that clothed the windows.
the girl sat up, instantly smelling food from the kitchen, instinctively, her stomach growled.
she wrapped the blanket around her body before standing, beginning to walk out of her room. a picture hung just next to the door caused her to pause, a small smile etching onto her face once she realised what it was.
an old christmas picture of the two siblings from bailey's last year of highschool stared back at her, causing her to remember life before college.

bailey took one last glance before making her way towards the kitchen, the unmistakeable scent of chicken mcnuggets wafting through her nose. and yes, bailey 110% could smell the difference between mcdonald's and wendy's.
she spotted a bag with her name on it sitting up on the counter, a large cup of the new frozen coffee drink sitting beside the bag. tom knew her so well.
the girl munched on her fries and nuggets while scrolling through instagram, sticking her drink in the freezer. once she finished up the food, in no time of course, she grabbed her drink and made her way into the living room where tom was sat watching old reruns of friends.
"bout' time you got up." tom teased, bailey rolling her eyes in response. "let's watch a movie." she suggested, plopping onto the couch. "winter soldier?" tom questioned, to which bailey gasped. "of course! what other movie would i watch? i will always support my husband." she retorted, to which tom chuckled and shook his head.
tom had switched to their amazon prime and selected the movie while bailey laid down, resting her legs in tom's lap. "wow, i see all i am to you is just an ottoman." tom feigned hurt, to which bailey giggled.
the two siblings continued to watch the movie, bailey beginning to drift back off to sleep. she recalled tom asking her a question, to which she tiredly answered a 'yes' before she slipped back into her slumber.

the girl awoke to the TV quietly playing the news, she peered at her watch, seeing it was nearly midnight. she still felt what she presumed was tom laying at the other end of the couch, causing the girl to maneuver around so she could rest her head on his chest, bringing her arm up to rest on his stomach.
only then did she realise that it most definitely was not tom. she tiredly opened her eyes and peered up, meeting chris' eyes. before she could freak out, he hushed the girl and brought his arms around her body.
"go back to sleep." he whispered, and bailey definitely did not protest as she curled up closer to captain freaking america on her brother's couch.
