✽Kaylee's POV

Silence filled the dining room as my dad took a long hard stare at Nathan. My poor boyfriend was awkwardly sitting there pushing his food across the plate with a fork. We've done our best to start a conversation but my dad wont give up on the mad dogging. I covered my face with my hands and groaned quietly. This is a disaster

"Darling, pass the peas?" Jennifer tried to distract him. He grabbed the bowl of peas and handed them to her, not taking his eyes off of Nathan for a second. I rolled my eyes.

"So.. The rainstorm going on outside.. the weatherman says its going to flood."

"Oh my gosh-" Cristal started.

"I hope it doesn't-" I interrupted.

"We'd be stuck indoors for a long time." Jennifer spoke over us. We looked at each other and quieted down.

"God, this is awkward." Elena pointed out the obvious.

"Well, it wouldn't have to be if your father would stop being so rude to our guest." Jennifer tried to say with a smile, nudging my dad.

"No boy will ever be good enough for my daughter." Dad stammered, giving Nathan the death stare. He's so stupid. Suddenly, he thinks he knows me and what's good for me? Just because he apologized, doesn't mean he's forgiven.

"Okay. That is enough, dad!" I pushed my chair out and stood up. "C'mon, Nathan. Let's go catch dinner somewhere else."

"Wait." Nathan quickly got up and stood by me then turned to my dad. "Mr. Robbinson, your right. Nobody will ever be good enough for Kaylee. But if she wants to be with me, not even you can stop her."

"That's right." I chimed in, grabbing onto his arm. My dad had an all too framiliar angry expression on his face. I couldnt be more proud of Nathan for stepping up to my dad. For a second there, I didn't think he had it in him.

"Mikaylee, please sit down." My dad blurted out. "Let's be rational about this!"

I grabbed my sweater as I approached the door. Jennifer tried to convince me to stay but I refused. It was pouring outside but we didn't care, we walked all the way to some random burger shack and ordered food. There was no tables or chairs to sit on so we had to sit on the floor under the dry shade of some insurance building.

"It's not a gourmet meal but it's dinner." He shrugged and bit into his burger.

"To us." I raised my plastic cup filled with orange soda.

"To us." He repeated and clunk his cup with mine. We took a big gulp of our drinks and then laughed about how stupid that was.

"Sorry about my dad. He's an ass." I sighed. He laughed at my so called insult and shook his head.

"He's just looking out for you." He grinned and then intertwined his fingers with mine. "I would react the same way if I had a daughter as beautiful as you."

"I bet you say that to all the girls you go out with." I whispered trying to change the subject.

"Are you saying you think I'm a man whore?" He asked playfully.

"There's rumors I've hears about how you dump girls after 2 weeks once you get whatever you want from them."

"I'm hurt that you buy all of that." He slightly frowned.

"I never said I believed." I stared into his gorgeous eyes.

"Good because I've only had one other girlfriend before you." He moved closer to me.

"Oh yeah? What happened?" I asked as softly as I could.

"After almost 2 years together, she left me for some dumb twit." He looked down.

"I'm sorry." I put my hand on his chin, forcing him to look at me.

"Don't be." We were now only an inch away from each other.

He leaned in, our lips meeting. Strange sensations filled through me as I moved my lips in unison with his. His lips were so soft like a new born baby's skin.

I'm sort of afraid to tell him that he stole my first kiss that first time he kissed me. He's this big hot shot popular guy at school, I'm just your local neighborhood loser. I honestly don't get why he went for me. There's a bunch of drop dead gorgeous interesting chicks at school who wouldn't hesitate to land a date with him.

It feels good to be able to get away from everything, at least for an hour or two. I feel so safe when I'm in Nathans arms.. like as if I'm untouchable. It's a nice feeling to have. Especially when your surrounded by a world of people who only wish to hurt you.
