Kaylee didn't come home last night, she spent the night at Toms house because she can't stand to look at her father after he embarrassed her in front of Nathan. Therefore, Jon knew  today was the day to take out the trick from up his sleeve. He had Kaylee's surprise waiting patiently for her in the living room. No, it wasn't a puppy or a newborn kitten. Her surprise was a 5 year old blue eyed little boy. He wore a tiny tux that Jon had bought him and matching little black shoes.

The kid had no idea what was going on but he was happy because he'd never worn brand new clothing before. He sat at the kitchen table eating chocolate that Jon handed him while kicking his feet. Jon sat next to him and waited for Kaylee to arrive with a grin on his face. He practiced what he was going to say to her in his head about a million times, he was so nervous about how she'd react.

Kaylee walked through the front door and immediately noticed the child sitting at the table. His face was covered in chocolate and he was all alone in the house. Kaylee thought it was creepy but she offered him a napkin anyway.

"So.. Where did you come from?"

The little boy didn't speak, he just shrugged.

"How did you get in here?"

He shrugged again.

"Okay." Kaylee didn't really know what to do. "Can you at least tell me your name?"

"Charlie."

"That's a nice name. I'm Kaylee."

She sat next to him and looked over at the mirror Charlie was looking at.

"Great! You guys have met each other. Now I can tell you the news together." Jon walked in.

"What news?" Kaylee looked up at him.

"Apparently your mother gave birth to a baby and then gave it up for adoption... Then she lied to us, saying that she miscarried. The point is, congratuations, you have a little brother." Jon tried to sound as sympathetically as he possibly could.

"But.. what?" Kaylee tried to wrap this around her brain.

"Me?" A confused Charlie sunk into his seat.

"Yes.. I'm your dad, Charlie. I know that you grew up thinking that you had nobody but you have a family now."

"You abandoned me.." Charlies blue eyes filled with tears.

"I know, sweetie.. but your family is here now and we want to take care of you." Jon kneeled down in front of the little boy.

"I don't have a family!" Charlie screamed and covered his ears.

"Yes, you do!" Jon raised his tone of voice.

"You will never be my family!" Charlie got up from his chair and pushed Jon aside. Running up the stairs, he locked himself in the bathroom.

"Nice going, you freaked him out." Kaylee crossed her arms. "He's like fucking 6 years old, dad. You should have taken your words slowly."

"I didn't meant to.. I just-"

"What did you expect? Were you thinking that the moment you told him you were his dad, he was going to come running and crying into your arms?" Kaylee harshly observed.

"No. I just didn't think he was going to take it that way."

"How did you even find out about him?  Have you always known or is this just one of your stupid scams?"

"No! Of course not. This family has been on child services radar for weeks now and they told me that he's been in foster care all his life and he needed a forever home. We did some blood and DNA tests and then they gave him to me." Jon explained the situation.
