twenty three

momo spent christmas and christmas eve with her family. she hung up the stockings and helped her mom prepare dinner, feeling the same way about her parents that she felt with her friends.

christmas ended just as fast as it began, and she spent the next few days in the dance studio, finally dancing again. the only reason she did it was because she ate too much over the holidays.

she spent more and more time in the dance studio everyday. her parents didnt mind, only because she was doing something she loved.

she heard her phone start to ring one morning. it was jeongyeon.

"hey momo! i know this is really sudden but me and nayeon are kind of on our way down." jeongyeon said.

momo almost choked on air. "what?" she asked.

"yeah, um, we'll be there soon." jeongyeon told her.

momo was already grabbing her things. she pulled on her coat, dropping her phone in the process. "shit!" she cried.

she picked it back up and quickly walked outside. she heard laughing on the other end. "did you drop your phone?" jeongyeon asked.

momo laughed breathlessly. "no."

"okay, it sounds like you're in a hurry, so im gonna let you go. i'll see you in a bit." jeongyeon said.

"okay. see ya." momo said. she jumped into her car and raced home. she told her mom the situation and darted up to her room, quickly shoving things under bed and in her closet. she changed out of her dance clothes and put on leggings and a hoodie luckily, she hadnt done any actual dancing, so she wasnt sweaty.

she raced down the stairs and grabbed a water bottle, chugging half of it. someone rang the door bell. she continued chugging her water as she opened the door.

"surprise!" nayeon and jeongyeon yelled.

momo choked on her water. she keeled over and coughed.

once momo stopped choking nayeon and jeongyeon showered her in hugs. "we missed you momo! merry late christmas!"

momo forget to let them in, and small snowflakes fluttered inside. momo laughed nervously. she laughed until she cried, even though she knew the were coming. she hoped sana would be with them.

"are you guys staying here?" momo asked, bringing her two friends into her living room.

"if it's okay with you, yeah." nayeon replied. her parents stood in the other room simply smiling.

"we called your parents a few days ago. we didnt wanna show up here unannounced." jeongyeon said.

momo smiled and wiped her eyes. "im sorry.. i just didnt expect you guys here."

nayeon smiled and wrapped her arms around momo. "jeongyeon, get her gifts!" she said.

momo's eyes widened. "you guys didn't have to..." she said softly.

"yes we did." jeongyeon said. she set 5 gifts in front of momo, all neatly wrapped, and one in a small pink bag. momo wanted to cry again. why was she so emotional all of a sudden?

then momo remembered the gifts she got nayeon and jeongyeon. "wait!" she said, wiggling out of nayeon's arms. she quickly ran up to her rook and rummaged through her closet. she forgot to wrap them. "goddammit, momo." she huffed.

she still had gift bags in her room. she emptied them out and shoved their gifts inside them and scribbled out the names on the bag. she picked up the bags and brought them downstairs.
